Description
Size and Weight
Eddyline Caribbean 109 is 10’9″ (327.7 cm) long and 30″ (76.2 cm) wide. Weighing in at only 40 lbs (18.1 kg), it is one of the lightest sit-on-top models on the market today. You’ll have no problems transporting this kayak to and from the water.
The kayak’s capacity is 250 lbs (113.4 kg), so it’s geared toward smaller paddlers. Remember that for best performance, it is recommended not to exceed 80 percent of the kayak’s maximum capacity.
Features
Eddyline Caribbean 109 comes with all the features you expect from a recreational kayak. There are four carrying handles (the side handles double as one-hand paddle parks, which is really useful). Hatches front and back open access to the in-hull storage space. Eddyline’s comfortable Cloud 10 seat is soft, breathable, and quick-drying, which helps you spend more time on the water in complete comfort. The footrests are adjustable. The deck and the seat pan are self-bailing, so any water that gets in will drain out through the scupper holes.
For storage, you also get a decent-size rear tank well with a bungee. Finally, there’s a short gear track on the central console where you can mount your phone, a camera, a GPS unit, or even a rod holder (note that Eddyline also sells fishing-specific models such as the Caribbean 12 Angler).
Performance
Eddyline Caribbean 109 offers the excellent performance you’ve come to expect from Eddyline. With its 30′ hull, it is quite stable without sacrificing too much speed. Eddyline’s gullwing hull design, with its pronounced keel and soft chines, helps the Caribbean 109 track really well. The boat is also maneuverable enough to work great on small rivers and in tighter places.
Construction and Materials
All Eddyline kayaks are made from Eddyline’s proprietary Carbonlite 2000® material. It is a dual-layer sheet of ABS plastic which consists of a load-bearing “muscle” substrate and a very hard, UV- and scratch-resistant exterior layer that gives the kayak its distinctive shine.
Sheets of Carbonlite have different specs depending on the model. To make a kayak, the sheets are heated up and then formed over a mold using vacuum (this technology is known as thermoforming). The top and bottom parts are then glued together, creating a very lightweight but strong construction.
Warranty
Eddyline kayaks come with a 3-year warranty that covers defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty is limited to the original buyer of the kayak. You need to register for the warranty by filling out and returning the warranty registration card or by completing this form on Eddyline’s website).
The deck rigging is warranted for 2 years.
