Size and Weight

Eddyline Skylark is a 12-foot (366 cm) kayak with a 26-inch (66 cm) beam. At only 41 lb (18.6 kg), it is incredibly light for a 12-footer, making transportation and handling a much easier task.

The Skylark can carry up to 295 lb (133.8 kg), which is many people will find sufficient for recreational and day touring use. If you’re a heavier person, we suggest looking at Eddyline Sandpiper 130, which has a capacity of 390 lbs (176.9 kg) and a more spacious cockpit.

Features

While it is a recreational kayak in terms of length and fit, Eddyline Skylark packs some serious features that you normally see on longer, performance-oriented models.

The boat features retractable carrying handles and partial deck lines (the rear one can be used for self-rescue). There are bow and stern bulkheads (sealed waterproof compartments), which greatly increase the kayak’s safety (it won’t sink, no matter what). You can get inside the bulkheads via rubberized hatches and use them to store your camping gear, clothes, or lunch.

The Infinity seat is very comfortable, which multiple points of adjustment. The seat pad and the backrest can move together, so you can easily find the best sitting position and also adjust the trim of the boat.

Performance

Eddyline Skylark is beginner-friendly but will also let you have fun as you progress.

It offers great primary stability to make you feel safe as you learn how to paddle. The medium-sized cockpit is easy to get in and out of, adding to the overall comfort. As you become more experienced, you will find that the Skylark’s hard chines provide excellent edging performance and allow you to practice more advanced techniques.

Eddyline Skylark is a great performer. Its glass-smooth, sleek hull pierces through the water with minimum effort. The sharp keel goes the entire length of the boat, ensuring great tracking. The Skylark is a pleasure to paddle, so you’ll want to be on the water more often.

Construction and Materials

All Eddyline kayaks are made from Eddyline’s proprietary Carbonlite 2000® material. It is a dual-layer sheet of ABS plastic which consists of a load-bearing “muscle” substrate and a very hard, UV- and scratch-resistant exterior layer that gives the kayak its distinctive shine.

Sheets of Carbonlite have different specs depending on the model. To make a kayak, the sheets are heated up and then formed over a mold using vacuum (this technology is known as thermoforming). The top and bottom parts are then glued together, creating a very lightweight but strong construction.

Warranty

Eddyline kayaks come with a 3-year warranty that covers defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty is limited to the original buyer of the kayak. You need to register for the warranty by filling out and returning the warranty registration card or by completing this form on Eddyline’s website).

The deck rigging is warranted for 2 years.
