Perception Pescador 12.0 Prices
With the Perception Pescador 12, recreational paddlers and kayak anglers can indulge their on-water hobbies in various locations throughout the day. This kayak can take you to many fishing spots. Thanks to the quality of construction and materials coupled with factory-integrated safety features, this cost-effective 12 footer is a great choice for all yakkers, particularly for those on a tight budget.
Size and Weight
The Pescador is 12′ (365 cm) long with a beamwidth of 32.5″ (82 cm), and 14.5″ (37 cm) deck height. It is a lightweight boat of 64 lbs (29 kg), making it manageable for loading it onto the car top racks or the truck bed. Being two feet longer than the Pescador 10, and leaning to into the lightweight category, it allows more storage.
The Perception Pescador 12 has a maximum capacity of 375 lbs and is well-suited to accommodate you, your gear, tackle, and accessories. This model shows excellent performance with paddlers of average or smaller stature who do not exceed 80 percent of the kayak’s total weight capacity.
Perception makes their kayaks from a proprietary High-Density Polyethylene material using the company-specific, one-piece rotational molding technology. The process involves pouring beads of polyethylene into the mold, which gets heated up and slowly rotated so that the material fills up every nook and cranny. After the mold cools down, you get a one-piece, leak-proof construction that is extremely rugged and durable.
The Pescador 12 features a flat deck with two molded grab handles in the front and read, as well as two molded-in grips on the sides.
It features a large oval bow hatch that provides access to the in-hull storage that allows storing your fishing rods and plenty of gear.
Its spacious cockpit with dimensions (LxW) of 21 “x21” integrates a molded center console with an integrated recess that fits a 1.5″ Solo Mount Base. The console also includes a cup holder.
Two YakAttack gear tracks on the gunnels allow mounting a fish finder, GoPro, swivel rod holder, or any custom accessory you may need on the water.
The Pescador 12 offers another molded recess in front of the seat where you can readily insert a 6″ day hatch.
The molded seat features Perception’s Comfort Seating System (CSS). The seat base and backrest are padded with a thick, lightweight EVA foam that enables better ventilation. The backseat side straps allow additional adjustments, but quite a few seat reviews from YouTubers point out the need for an extra cushion for the base seat, as well as a lumbar support pad for the back.
As most Perception kayaks, behind the seat, the two molded-in rod holders are virtually useless for their purpose due to being too shallow and too wide to hold your rods or nets safely. If you are using short, beginner fishing poles, we strongly advise tethering them with bungees.
Pescador 10 includes sizeable, bungee-secured rear tank well that fits a crate or cooler along with more gear and tackle, as well as a paddle park on the left-hand side.
The kayak also comes with a replaceable skid plate.
Perception Pescador 12 has a streamlined, multichine hull that features broad shoulders and elongated tracking keel. The factory improved buoyancy and the narrow bow tip suggest a design that is efficient for tracking while allowing the paddler to get the most out of each stroke.
Having good primary stability means dry paddling and fishing, but the flexible secondary stability that helps with maneuverability and water versatility prevents most kayakers from stand-up fishing. It is wobbly and prone to tipping the average paddler overboard. There are expert kayakers who fly fish off of this kayak. However, not many people have such balance control.
The Pescador 12 catches up and maintains good speed because of its length, smooth tracking, light weight, and relatively low profile.
If you need to cover long distances and fish different turf, this is a great Pescador model for you.
Perception kayaks are warranted against material or manufacturing defects in the hull and deck for 5 years from the date of the original purchase of the kayak. Parts, accessories, and outfitting are warranted for one year.
