Size, weight, capacity

Sea Eagle 380x is 12 ft. 5 in. (380 cm) long and 39 in. (99 cm) wide. The kayak is long and stable enough to comfortably carry two adults with all of their equipment for day trips and even multi day adventures.

The 380x has a capacity of 750 lbs. (340 kg). While this kayak is capable of carrying three adults, it is better suited to two or even one paddler.

As far as tandem kayaks go, the Sea Eagle 380x is far from heavy. At just 40 lbs. (18kg), you won’t have too much difficulty moving this around on or off the water, or loading it into the trunk to take home.

Features

The Explorer kayaks from Sea Eagle are designed to be simple, open style vessels. They are not loaded up with endless features, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to see here.

Two supportive, high backed seats are easy to install and adjust. There are 24 D-rings around the boat to secure the seats and your gear, so you don’t lose anything even if you capsize.

Front and rear spray skirts prevent waves from crashing into your kayak. These skirts are fitted with bungee and D-rings for even more gear storage. Any water which does make it into your boat can be drained easily through the sixteen drain valves.

The separate, Drop Stitch floor gives the 380x extra rigidity. This not only strengthens the boat, but makes it more responsive so you can comfortably paddle up to Class IV rapids.

A large removable skeg keeps the boat tracking straight on open water.

Last but not least, Sea Eagle 380x is compatible with Sea Eagle’s Motormount, which is an aluminum side transom that holds up to a 34 lb thrust electric motor with a maximum motor weight of 15 lbs.

Performance

Tandem inflatable kayaks are often aimed at the recreational end of the market. The 380x, however, is a highly capable and rugged option for paddlers who want to explore more challenging environments. This kayak can handle some serious white water, coastal surf and open water trips.

The rigid structure and wide design combine to make the 380x incredibly stable. Kayakers taking to the water for the first time appreciate how secure they feel in this boat and how easily it paddles. The addition of the skeg on the underside helps on open water, too.

Like most inflatables, the Sea Eagle 380x may struggle in the winds due to its high sides. The high and wide sides can also make it difficult for smaller paddlers to reach the water comfortably and paddle effectively.

Overall, Sea Eagle 380x is an incredibly strong kayak, which can withstand portages and being dragged around the riverbank. This durability comes with a little extra weight, but nothing that two paddlers can’t easily move around.
