Size, weight, capacity
The Trident 11 Angler is only 11 ft. 6 in. (3.5 m) long, so it’s a pretty short and nimble kayak. At 30.5 in. (77.5 cm) wide, it is also pretty narrow. However, it is stable enough to let you move around comfortably as you reach your gear or fish.
With a capacity of 305 lbs. (138.35 kg) the Trident 11 Angler is capable of carrying more weight than its diminutive design would suggest. Still, this is a kayak for smaller and medium sized paddlers with a reasonable amount of fishing equipment.
This is a feature-laden angling kayak, and as such comes with the weight associated with so many extras. At 71 lbs. (32.2 kg), this isn’t an easy boat to load on your own, so it’s best to get some help to move this kayak around off the water.
The Trident 11 Angler has a lot of angling features packed into a small hull, but it doesn’t feel cluttered.
Starting with the seat, the ACS2 system is highly supportive, comfortable and ventilated. The seat pad is thick and cushioned. The high backrest can be adjusted to fit a range of paddlers.
The adjustable foot pegs can be moved out of the way while you fish, then moved easily back into position as you paddle from spot to spot.
Ahead of the seat is a central pod with lockable storage for smaller items and a molded-in cup holder. Larger items can be stored in the bow click-seal hatch, which also contains a battery storage bag. At the rear of the Trident 11 Angler is an oversize tankwell secured with bungee. It can accommodate a cooler.
You can outfit a Trident 11 Angler to suit your style. At the bow is an accessory plate with a transducer scupper. On the gunwales, there are multiple mounts to install any equipment you may need. Deck lines and rod mounts complete the set up and give you freedom to store plenty of gear and keep it accessible on the water.
Two recessed grab handles, bow and stern, as well as two on the sides, make it really easy to move this kayak around on the land.
The Trident 11 Angler is a popular angling kayak, made popular by the features it’s packed with and how portable it is on land.
The short and stable design makes the Trident 11 Angler a beginner friendly kayak, easy to turn and maneuver. A defined keel line runs the entire length of the boat and keeps it tracking straight, which makes it easier to paddle to your favorite fishing spot.
That said, unless it’s got a good amount of gear in it, this kayak isn’t the most effective when it comes to tracking. On the other hand, if you really load it with gear, there’s a good chance you’re going to end up with a wet butt.
On the whole, The Trident 11 Angler is a quality sit-on-top fishing kayak which has so many options to keep you on the water all day.
