Jackson Bite FD
If you like the open deck design and tackle management features of Jackson Bite but you also want a pedal drive, meet Jackson Bite FD. Quick, agile, and stable, this kayak can bring a lot of fun to beginners and seasoned anglers alike.
Size and Weight
Jackson Bite FD measures 11’6″ by 35″ and weighs 91 lbs without the seat and the drive unit. The kayak has a weight capacity of 400 lbs, which should be enough for an average-sized adult and quite a lot of fishing or camping gear. As always, it is recommended to stay within 80 percent of the kayak’s capacity to get the best performance.
The Bite FD offers the same streamlined open-deck layout as the original Bite. You do lose some of the standing space because of the pedal drive unit, but you still get the open tank wells front and back, the gear tracks for easy customization, and the clever tackle box storage spots. The padded frame seat slides fore and aft on tracks so you can trim the boat for optimal weight distribution and leg position. It also has high and low positions.
The molded bottle holders on each side have been removed to make space for the rudder control system. Rudder cables run on top of the gunnels and are covered by plastic hoods.
Jackson Bite FD inherits the great performance characteristics from the original Bite. It is fast and responsive yet very stable. It also tracks pretty well and handles windy days with ease. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced kayak angler, you will have a lot of fun fishing out of the Bite FD.
All Jackson kayaks purchased in 2020 and after are warranted against production defects for five years from the original purchase date. Depending on the year of warranty, Jackson will repair or replace the hull for a fraction of the purchase price.
