Description
Size and Weight
The Ascend 133X measures 13 feet / 396 cm in length and 37 inches / 94 cm in width. Weighing in at 125 lbs / 57 kg, you certainly will need some help transporting and launching this boat. This is Ascend’s largest kayak in the fleet.
Capacity
The Ascend 133X has a capacity of a whopping 550 lbs / 250 kg. That’s plenty of room for yourself, gear, and optional modifications that some people make such as installing a bow or stern trolling motor.
Features
The Ascend 133X comes with a Yak-Power system that includes a master controller, a wiring system, and three power plugs for all your fishing accessories.
At the bow, there are two carrying handles molded into the kayak instead of the usual rubber-lined ones.
Back from the handles, there are some non-slip rubberized traction pads that you might need when reaching the bow trolling motor. This kayak also comes stern motor and Power-Pole micro anchor ready.
Right behind the bow, there is a plug for your motor and another Yak-Power plug for any of your accessories. There’s also a plate you can take off so you can get to the hull to manage the wires.
Two foot pegs are easy to use and glide smoothly to cater to anglers of all sizes. In the middle of the kayak, there is a 10.91 x 14.84 inches / 27.71 x 37.69 cm dry storage box that is slightly raised off the deck containing a storage tub. Under it is the hull and that’s where all the wiring goes.
Next to the storage box is the master controller for the Yak-Power system that is easily reached from the seat.
Along the gunnels, there are four 16-inch / 40 cm accessory rails installed for your GPS, fish finders, and other accessories. On the interior sides, there are also two sturdy metal handles in the interior middle of the kayak to carry your kayak side-to-side in addition to front and back.
Along the sides, there are lots of storage trays located on the sides for you to store tackle boxes and other small items, and there are a total of 9 scupper plugs that are 1.5 inches / 3.81 cm.
The enhanced, high-back seat is very comfortable and is adjustable to two positions. Under the seat is a storage tray to stash more stuff, and there is a cup holder on each side of the seat.
Behind the seat, there are two flush-mounted rod holders with leash eyelets and there’s a power plug where the battery for your trolling motor goes. The kayak comes with all the wiring you need to install your trolling motor.
Towards the stern is a huge storage area with bungees, where you can place cooler boxes, milk crates, or anything you want.
The stern has another mounting plate if you want to mount the trolling motor or micro power pole there. Like the bow, the two carrying handles are deep-molded into the kayak, and there is another Yak-Power plug.
The bottom of the kayak contains a drain plug and two skid plates that keep the kayak off the ground and protects it from damage. These plates are removable, so if you wear them out, you can easily replace them. There is also one up the front.
On the keel is also a transducer mounting plate that you can unbolt and install your transducer. The large transducer port will be able to fit almost any transducer.
Performance
The Ascend 133X is a high-end fishing kayak designed with the serious angler in mind. Because of Ascend’s catamaran hull design, the kayak’s stability is unparalleled, and standing up and walking around on this kayak feels incredibly secure, even in winds.
This kayak weighs 125 lbs / 57 kg, so turning it is understandably tougher compared to the lighter kayaks. However, it still maneuvers well and tracks like a dream.
For a kayak this size, speed is sacrificed but fishing kayaks aren’t typically designed to cover long distances at speed.
Overall, the Ascend 133X is all you want in a fishing kayak and will make an excellent addition to any serious angler’s collection of boats.
