Stohlquist Cadence is an entry level, recreational PFD, designed with a slightly wider than average footprint. The broader design allowed Stohlquist to make the Cadence thinner and more conforming, so it wraps more snugly around your body and offers maximum comfort. What this means is that when you sit down in your high-backed kayak, you won’t find yourself shunted forwards out of the seat.
The Cadence is equally at home in a more traditional style kayak too. The full body design and wrap around cut gives you an enormous amount of freedom, so you can paddle on long days or relax in the sun without your PFD interfering.
There’s nothing more irritating on a long day of kayaking than having your PFD riding up all the time, rubbing under your chin or just getting in the way when you’re trying to paddle. Stohlquist have countered this with their innovative cross-chest cinch harness, which works as part of their PFD adjustment to prevent any ride up at all. Couple this with their graded sizing, where the PFD gets larger as the person does, rather than just having more adjustment, and you have a perfect fitting, snug bit of safety kit.
The Cadence comes with multiple, decent sized pockets, too, so you’ve got loads of easy to access storage.
Also, check the Coaster model, which has a similar cut and design to the Cadence, but is a step towards touring and longer recreational days out.
