Best for day trips, beginners and intermediate level paddlers love the Perception Tribute 10 for the unusually cushioned comfort in an affordable sit-inside kayak. It may be more suitable for adventurous individuals because of its incredible agility and on-water performance, but whoever tried out and fitted inside the cockpit, it must have been like a glove.

Description

Perception makes a powerful statement with the Tribute 10 sit-inside kayak. Designed for women and smaller paddlers, it offers stability, excellent maneuverability, and fully adjustable comfort for the ladies. The medium-sized cockpit, with its low positioned seating, allows the paddler a better connection with the water. Perception’s ultralight technology adapted the Tribute for comfortable portability and ride without breaking the bank.

Size and Weight

Being one of Perception’s most compact kayaks, it is 10′ (305 cm) long, has a beamwidth of 26″ (66 cm), deck height of 13″ (33 cm), and ultra light weight of 36 lbs (16 kg).
Perception Tribute 10 is easy to carry for almost anybody due to its slim profile. Transportation and storage are not a problem, either. Some students keep it in their dorm rooms.

Carrying a maximum of 225 lbs (102 kg), this isn’t a kayak for people who want to spend the night camping. However, there are similar, extremely lightweight kayaks such as Perception Prodigy XS with less capacity than the Tribute 10. To experience its best performance, it is advisable not to load the kayak with more than 80 percent of the total loading limit.

Materials

Perception makes their kayaks from a proprietary High-Density Polyethylene material using the company-specific, one-piece rotational molding technology. The process involves pouring beads of polyethylene into the mold, which gets heated up and slowly rotated so that the material fills up every nook and cranny. After the mold cools down, you get a one-piece, leak-proof construction that is extremely rugged and durable.

Features

This lightweight kayak features two carrying toggle handles at the bow and stern.

The optimized, streamlined hull doesn’t allow much room for storage, but it includes bungee rigging in front and behind the cockpit where you can stow some gear packed in sealed dry bags. You can bring cold drinks, supplies, and equipment in the round stern hatch and stay assured it will be dry. This compartment is watertight due to the bulkhead behind the seat. The neoprene lid is easily accessible onshore, but while in the water, you cannot reach the items stored inside.

The cockpit is medium-sized with dimensions of (LxW): 39.5″ (100 cm) x 22″ (56 cm), offering comfort only to smaller-framed individuals.

It features adjustable footrests, padded cockpit edges for leg protection, and an extra cushy contoured seat.
The seat base includes leg-lifters that provide lots of support underneath the thighs and can be easily adjusted for the perfect paddling position.

The seatback is highly trimmable in all directions – fore and aft, up and down to maximize the paddler’s comfort and positioning into the cockpit.

The thick padding is made of a quick-dry, breathable fabric that provides a cozy and pleasant experience in the kayak.

The Perception Tribute 10 doesn’t come with a skid plate.

Performance

Performance is something that the Tribute 10 does best.

Light and with a low deck profile, no wonder the owners call this kayak their ‘little rocket’. Despite being a 10-foot long kayak, the narrow beam, sharp bow tip, and streamlined hull enable the Tribute to catch some high speed, unlike many other 10 footers.

It tracks exceptionally well in all water types, mainly calm coastal water, sheltered lakes, ponds, slow-moving rivers, and streams. It easily keeps a straight course when not paddling and is highly responsive to every stroke.

That said, the Perception Tribute 10 is easy to maneuver due to several factors: 1) length-to-width ratio leans towards agility and not extreme stability, 2) factory-integrated balance between buoyancy and weight, and 3) operational hull with shallow but efficient tracking keel that reduces inertia and friction.

Warranty

Perception kayaks are warranted against material or manufacturing defects in the hull and deck for five years from the date of the original purchase of the kayak. Parts, accessories, and outfitting are warranted for one year.
