Size and Weight

With a 12 ft (366 cm) length, 30 in. (76 cm) width and 15 in. (38 cm) height, the Covert 120 Angler has been configured for stability and easy maneuverability. For a product to satisfy the most experienced anglers, sizable storage is a necessity. These dimensions also contribute to the substantial storage space offered by the kayak.

Demands placed on the Pelican design team have ensured it only produces lightweight vessels. At only 55 lb (24.9 kg), this kayak can be effortlessly hauled by one pair of hands and transported to and from your vehicle.

Capacity

To handle the gear normally carried by advanced anglers, this vessel must have a substantial load capacity. The Covert 120 Angler does not disappoint in this area. It has a maximum load capacity of 350 lb (159 kg). This allows you to carry gear for multiple-day trips without worrying about compromising performance.

Features

Storage capacity is a huge feature on this kayak. A double lock hatch, that is opened or closed by a slight turn of the latches, is located at the bow of the vessel. Most storage hatches are fastened with a bungee cord. Despite this being popular, it is not as secure as having a lock mechanism; like the one featured in the Covert 120 Angler.

A tank well with mesh covers is located at the stern. You can pile on gear at this end of the kayak. The mesh covers ensure your belongings are secure and well ventilated during your adventures.

In and around the cockpit area is where conscious design features are most noticeable. For starters, a conveniently placed bottle holder is located in the center of the cockpit. This cockpit also features a swivel rod holder that enables spinning and baitcasting. It can be adjusted horizontally or vertically to ensure you find the most conducive position for catching fish.

As a bonus, two flush mount rod holders are also included. These have become an essential feature on any self-respecting angling kayak. The absence of these is unacceptable!

Pelican’s most popular feature is perhaps the comfortable seating areas offered on all their kayaks. Being a sit-on-top vessel, the Covert 120 Angler leaves you legs free to maneuver and relax. The molded footrests are quite a surprise. At this price point, adjustable foot rests are a more logical option.

An adjustable Ergoform padded backrest is accompanied by a plush seat cushion to provide comfort and postural support. It is made from breathable, lightweight mesh material. It is not as technical or versatile as the one featured in the Coast 100XR. But it will do the job in ensuring you experience little muscular pain after several days of kayaking.

Portability has become a buzzword when describing kayak’s features. This does not mean it is any less important. A lightweight construction is imperative, but so are other convenient features that aid in the portability of a kayak. The Covert 120 Angler has two of them. These are a pair of caring handles and a drain plug, that empties the kayak after an exhilarating adventure.

Performance

The Covert 120 Angler is crafted with a multi chine flat bottom hull design. This gives you exceptional stability—to the point where you can stand and fight off fish. Additionally, the hull design allows great performance in shallow waters. This great maneuverability is complemented by equally great tracking. All this performance is noticeable even when the kayak is fully loaded.
