This length provides a good mix of performance and ease of paddling, so it’s a good option for newer kayakers that are looking to improve their skills. It also has a deck height of 13.75” (35 cm), which is also average for this size of kayak.

With a weight of 45 lbs (20.4 kg), the Sorrento 106sk is on par with other boats its size. For comparison, the Perception Sound 10.5 has a similar length and is just slightly heavier at 46 lbs (23 kg).

Capacity

Performance

The Sorrento 106sk was designed with newer paddlers in mind, so it has a rounded hull in the middle. This helps to provide the stability that many novice and intermediate paddlers enjoy for added peace of mind on the water.

However, Old Town also recognized that kayakers need a bit more maneuverability in their boat as they start to progress with their skills. So, they gave the Sorrento 106sk a sharp keel line that provides a bit more of an ability to glide through the water.

Finally, this kayak has foot braces as well as a drop skeg to improve performance. This skeg, in particular, allows for increased tracking ability when paddling long distances and it easily retracts in shallow water for maximum maneuverability.
