The Pelican Solo is a six-foot sit-on-top kayak for kids. Although it is mostly a toy kayak, it is also a great way to introduce your kid to the kayaking sport.
The Solo is made from Pelican’s RAM-XS high-density polyethylene using the blow molding technology. The material is heated up until it melts and then extruded into a mold. It is then inflated into a hollow shape using air pressure. Once everything cools down, the mold opens, ejecting the kayak. Blow-molded kayaks are very sturdy and impact-resistant.

Size and Weight
Pelican Solo measures 6 ft (183 cm) by 24 in. (61 cm) and has a deck height of 9 in. (23 cm). It weighs only 19 lbs (8.6 kg) so your kid will be able to handle it easily. The maximum load capacity is 100 lbs. (45.4 kg).
The Solo features molded footrests, a molded seat, a bottle holder, and a rear swim-up deck so it will be easy for kids to get back on board from the water.
The kayak comes with a paddle and a visibility flag.
The kayak is based on a twin-tunnel hull that provides excellent primary stability on the water. It has a self-bailing design so any water that gets in will drain out.
You should not expect any serious speed or tracking performance from a boat of this size. It is not suitable for long trips or any type of open water. However, if you treat Pelican Solo as what it is, half beach toy and half learning aid, this little kayak will not disappoint.
Pelican Solo is covered by Pelican’s 2-year limited warranty for the hull and 1-year limited warranty for accessories that come pre-assembled with the kayak. You can find more information about Pelican’s warranty terms here.
