At 13 ft. 4 in. (4.1 m) long, the Prowler 13 Angler is a mid-length kayak. It measures just 28 in. (71.1 cm) wide, less than many competing models. While this is pretty narrow for a sit-on-top fishing kayak, it remains more than stable enough as a fishing platform.

Weighing in at 62 lbs. (28 kg), the Prowler 13 Angler isn’t particularly heavy for a fishing kayak. There are comfortable handles to car-top this boat as a pair, and moving it around solo should not be too much of a challenge, either.

The Prowler 13 Angler has a capacity of 325 lbs. (147 kg). This may not be enormous, but will comfortably hold an average adult and some fishing equipment.

Features

The hull has a closed cockpit style bow with a built-in hatch. This not only gives the paddler a huge amount of internal dry storage, but displaces water effectively as you crash through the waves. This design keeps your ride higher and drier, so more stable. The hatch on the bow is lockable, protecting your valuable gear in case of a capsize.

Other storage on the Prowler 13 Angler includes a tank well at the stern and a small click-seal hatch just ahead of the seat.

The seat is the Ocean Kayak Comfort Plus system. Not only is it highly comfortable and padded, but the extra wide, high back is fully adjustable. Molded-in footrests keep you upright in your seat so you can paddle more efficiently.

Deck lines, for storage and for rescue, line the outside of the kayak. Just behind the seat there are two flush mount rod holders. There is also a paddle holder on the side, a must-have feature on a fishing kayak.

The scupper in the centre of the hull is transducer compatible. In the center console there are two molded cup holders and a flat area, secured with a strap, for small items.

Performance

The Prowler 13 Angler is an accessible and beginner friendly sit-on-top kayak with good angling capabilities. Despite the narrow design, this is a stable kayak if you’re not pushing the top end of the weight range. Paddlers who are particularly tall or nearing the upper capacity would be best looking at larger boats in the range.

The storage options on the Prowler 13 Angler gives plenty of space to keep your gear safe as you paddle to your fishing spot.

The seat system is relatively basic, but comfortable and supportive enough for recreational anglers. The low seat and lack of standing space and stability may inhibit some fishing movements.
