Size and Weight

The Manta Ray lineup is much more sleek and lightweight than other Native fishing models. This kayak’s overall length is 12’2” (371 cm) and its width is 33” (84 cm), which is further proof that Native designed the Manta Ray Propel Angler 12 with less bulk and better on-the-water performance. This kayak weighs in at just 89 lbs (40.4 kg) fully-rigged and is designed to allow optimal performance for anglers while still providing ample stability.

The overall capacity of the Manta Ray Propel Angler 12 is much less than other Native lineups, but at 325 lbs (147 kg), anglers can still pack this kayak down with a decent amount of gear needed for most fishing trips. Many users report that, even when loaded to near full capacity, this kayak’s performance is not hampered by the added weight.

Features

The most attractive feature about the Manta Ray Propel Angler 12 is the smooth, effortless Propel pedal-drive system. The propellor comes with a built-in weed guard to prevent fishing line and other elements from becoming tangled in the propellor system. The Manta Ray Propel Angler 12’s pedal drive is also one of the quietest on the market compared to other models that utilize fins to drive the kayak.

The adjustable First Class Seat is impressive with its ability to be adjusted from a high or low position, or even reclined to meet a user’s specific preference. The seat position can also be slid backwards or forwards to better accommodate a user’s leg length.

The seat’s many storage pockets also slide with the housing, making it easy to adjust your seat on the fly without creating a mess with any tackle trays stored underneath or on either side of the seat area. The kayak’s rudder is steered using a control lever located on the left of the user’s seat.

The bow offers an oversized dry storage hatch that’s ideal for stashing rain gear, extra tackle boxes, or nearly anything else.

To the right of the seat is a rod/drink holder and users will find two additional rod holders directly behind the seating area. There are also two gear tracks located on either side of the cockpit area that allow users to mount anything from rod holders to camera gear and electronics.

The deck is capable of allowing anglers to stand, but does not have as much room as other premium fishing kayak models. Directly behind the seat is a 5” dry storage hatch that’s perfect for stashing valuables that anglers might need quick access to.

The spacious rear storage well is capable of holding multiple coolers, tackle boxes, or crates, and is also fitted with bungee straps to ensure that no gear makes it into the water.

The Manta Ray Propel Angler 12 also features a transducer mounting cavity and plate under the hull that makes it relatively easy for users to install their favorite electronic equipment.

The kayak is also fitted with multiple padded carrying handles that make it easier to transport out of the water.

Performance

The Manta Ray Propel Angler 12’s overall hull design is crafted to provide optimal performance. The sharp bow and stern design provide this kayak with near excellent tracking, especially with the rudder system. The lightweight hull and narrow build also mean that users will get more speed out of the Manta Ray Propel Angler 12 than they might find in other Native fishing models.

The kayak’s stability is not quite as highly-rated as other Native models, but users report that it is quite easy to stand and fish out of the Manta Ray Propel Angler 12. This kayak is also highly agile and can turn on a dime compared to its larger, more bulky cousins in the Titan lineup.
