Description
Size, weight, capacity
AirVolution 2 is 14 ft. 6 in. (441 cm) long and 37 in. (93 cm) wide. These dimensions give the boat an enormous amount of stability, while remaining streamlined enough to cover reasonable distances.
Any recreational kayak needs to be quick and easy to get on the water, otherwise it just won’t get used. AirVolution 2 weighs 50 lbs. (23 kg). While this isn’t as light as some other inflatables, it is far easier to transport than the rigid kayaks this competes with.
The maximum capacity of the AirVolution 2 is 550 lbs. (249 kg). This is enough room for two medium adults and their kit for the day.
Features
The drop stitch seams allow the chambers of the AirVolution 2 to be inflated to a higher pressure than many inflatables. This gives the boat a far more rigid feel to it and makes it respond more like a traditional kayak.
The seating in the AirVolution 2 is comfortable and supportive. The seat pads have ventilation strips, so you don’t overheat, while the high backed supports are fully adjustable, so you can stay out on the water all day. An adjustable foot brace inside the boat keeps you upright in the seat.
A removable tracking fin at the rear of the kayak prevents the boat drifting as you paddle.
Below deck storage lets you take essential items, like lunch and spare clothes, out on the water with you. For those things you need close at hand, top deck bungee and D-rings are fitted.
Soft grip carrying handles are fitted for moving the kayak around on the land.
Performance
The AirVolution 2 is a stable, easy to paddle recreational kayak. The open deck design inspires confidence and freedom out on the water, making this an ideal family kayak. The higher pressure inflation not only makes this boat really rigid and responsive, but it’s stronger too, so you can take your pet paddling.
On the water, this boat isn’t going to set any records for speed, but it does cover the water comfortably enough. The stability means you can stand, swim and move around without worry. It tracks well enough, but relies heavily on the fin at the rear which can only do so much in windier conditions.
You can comfortably paddle this boat all day, though the lack of foot brace for the rear paddler can leave you fighting to stay in your seat.
Off the water, it’s a little on the heavy side. At 50 lbs., this is not anywhere near as light as other alternatives, but this is only really felt once this boat is deflated and being packed away. When it’s on the water, this boat feels light and nimble.
