The Deuce Coupe is 13’ (396cm) long and an extremely stable 33” (84cm) wide.

Maximum paddler weight for this kayak is 500lbs (227kg), which is of course split between however many paddlers you have in the boat, as well as all your kit.

It will come as no surprise that this boat is weighty; 78lbs (35kg) to be exact. Fortunately, like the Coupe, there is a portage wheel at the stern which makes moving it easier, but it’s a lot of boat to load and unload from a vehicle.

Features

The Douce Coupe is essentially the two person version of the extremely versatile Coupe sit-on-top. The tandem version has slightly less bow rocker, making it slightly more open water focused as the v-shape bow will help the boat track effectively. A flat hull and lengthy waterline will help this boat carry speed while maintaining maneuverability and this boat is more than capable on low grade rapids and ocean trips, it is just likely to be a fairly wet ride for the bow paddler.

The two seats are extremely comfortable as usual with Liquidlogic boat, and have adjustable backrests for extra support. A selection of moulded footwells allow you to switch up paddling positions without the faff of a footplate. A third seating position in the centre of the boat is perfect for a smaller paddler. Alternatively, the rear seat can be repositioned to this central location, ideal for those who want to take two smaller paddlers out on the water with them, while still maintaining full control.

Three small hatches allow you to keep your kit dry on the water while a large recess at the rear is perfect for storing bags or barrels. These are secured in place with bungee.

A spring loaded skeg system at the rear of the boat keeps the boat tracking straight on open water.

Grab handles on the bow and sides make carrying this beast much easier and the portage wheel at the rear means one person can move this boat on their own.

Performance

The Deuce Coupe is a great two person sit-on-top kayak which can be transformed into a three person option for those with smaller children to take on the water.

This boat performs excellently as a tourer, tracking effectively even without the skeg. With the skeg it is capable in trickier conditions and is easy to cover larger distances in. In terms of white water and ocean paddling, the Deuce Coupe maybe lacks the bow rocker of the solo version, but is still more than a match for gentle moving rivers and small ocean surf.
