Built for entry-level paddlers that are looking to take on bigger adventures, the Lifetime Temptation 110 is a great companion for flat water kayaking. This boat features a number of great performance and comfort-oriented features to provide paddlers with a fun way to enjoy their time out on the water.
Description
Size and Weight
With its 11’ (335.2 cm) length, the Temptation 110 is on the longer end of the spectrum for a recreational kayak. This length provides the boat with an improved tracking ability in flat water without detracting too much from its portability to and from the put-in.
It has a 30.5” (77.5 cm) width, which is about average for a kayak this size. The width of the Temptation 110 offers great stability in calm conditions, as well as plenty of space in the cockpit for a more comfortable paddling experience.
With a weight of 59.3 lb (26.8 kg), the Temptation 110 is a bit heavy for an 11-foot kayak. However, this weight isn’t particularly unreasonable and it is still easy enough to transport, thanks to the kayak’s bow, stern, and side carry handles.
Capacity
This boat offers a solid 300 lb (136 kg) maximum weight capacity, which is sufficient for the majority of paddlers that want to get out on the water for a short day trip. After accounting for the fact that kayaks should only be loaded to about 80% of their capacity, the Temptation 110’s effective capacity is about 240 lbs (108.9 kg).
Keep in mind, however, that the total weight includes not only yourself but also all your gear, which is an important consideration with a boat like the Temptation 110 that comes with a decent amount of gear storage. So, if you plan to go on camping trips with this boat, be sure that the combined weight of both you and your gear is under 240 lbs (108.9 kg).
Features
The Temptation 110 is one of Lifetime’s relatively feature-heavy recreational kayaks, as it offers a number of different performance and comfort-centric design choices that make a substantial difference on the water.
First and foremost, Lifetime outfitted this boat with an adjustable padded seat back for lumbar support. They also included a seat pad for added comfort during long days on the water.
As far as gear storage goes, the Temptation 110 doesn’t disappoint. It has large rear and forward tankwells with bungee cord attachments for storing gear on-the-go. Additionally, it comes with a central dry hatch, which offers below deck storage for your most essential items.
Self-bailing scupper holes throughout the cockpit and tankwell also help to ensure that your boat stays water-free as much as possible as you paddle.
Performance
Although it’s an entry-level kayak, the Temptation 110 was designed to impress in terms of performance. It features a mostly flat, rounded hull with minimal rocker to help with primary stability in calm conditions.
While it doesn’t excel stability-wise in choppy seas, Lifetime did give this kayak a retractable skeg, which is helpful for tracking in windy conditions. Moreover, the boat’s longer length helps improve its overall tracking ability for a more intuitive paddling experience.
Finally, despite its flat hull and minimal rocker, which normally detracts from maneuverability, the Temptation 110’s molded-in Freedom Footwells provide the secure foot bracing you need to gain control over the boat during precision turns. This makes it easier to maintain a course through the water and to avoid rocks, trees, and other obstacles in your way.
