Description
Size and Weight
The Native Slayer Propel Max 12.5 is all about stability and performance as it relates to fishing. With an overall length of 12’6” (330 cm) and a width of 34” (86 cm) the Propel Max is capable of offering great stability thanks to its overall hull design. This kayak is quite a bit heavier than other watercrafts of similar size. It has a fitted hull weight of 95 lbs (43 kg) and a fully-rigged weight of 125 lbs (56.6 kg).
Capacity
The Slayer Propel Max is no slouch when it comes to overall weight capacity. The kayak is able to hold up to 500 lbs (226.7 kg), making it ideal for seasoned anglers who need to pack their vessel down with lots of gear, electronics and other equipment. Native also designed the Propel Max to offer plenty of storage space in the bow and stern areas, which helps to evenly distribute any weight added.
Features
The Slayer Propel Max’s features are undeniably some of the best that can be found in a premium fishing kayak on the market in 2023.
The kayak’s bow and stern come with pre-mounted brackets that are able to fit just about any trolling motor. The bow also features an oversized, rotomolded dry storage hatch that also offers a removable gear tray.
The hatch also serves as a battery storage location that also has transducer access, making it easy to install your favorite electronic equipment. On either side of the bow are horizontal rod storage tracks that keep fishing rods secure and protected while you’re on the water.
The Slayer Propel Max 12.5 gets its name from the propel-driven pedal system that is capable of driving the kayak along at decent speeds, even against the current. The propeller features a metal sleeve that protects the housing from being tangled with fishing line, weeds, or anything else you are likely to encounter on the water.

The streamlined pedal crank system allows users to enjoy a smooth and effortless pedalling experience. The kayak can be steered using a navigation bar on the port side of the kayak’s seat.
On either side of the cockpit area is a side tackle storage bin where anglers can store their tackle trays for quick and easy access. To the right of the seat is an electronics panel that can be customized by the user to situate electronics in just the way they want on their kayak.
The Slayer Propel Max’s adjustable seat is one of the kayak’s best features and is reported to be extremely comfortable. The seat can be placed in the high or low position and is crafted with a sturdy aluminum frame and padded material to help anglers stay comfortable on the water.
The kayak also features rod holders on either side, as well as a drink holder located on the starboard side of the kayak.
The Slayer Propel Max’s stern offers a very large storage well that’s perfect for storing multiple coolers, or crates and other gear. The stern also features a round, sealed dry hatch that comes with a removable storage bag that’s ideal for stashing any valuables or other items.
The kayak’s rudder system has been upgraded and extended to provide even better tracking and control on the water.
Performance
The Slayer Propel Max is all about stability and catering to anglers in a way that enhances their fishing experience to the next level. While anglers will find this kayak to be incredibly stable, it does lack agility and speed compared to other pedal-driven kayaks on the market in 2020. Users have reported that the kayak’s turn radius is much wider when moving slowly or not at all.
The Slayer Propel Max is also heavier than other kayaks of similar stature, which does hamper its ability to reach optimal speed for some users. The hull is crafted with a pronounced keel, which provides excellent tracking, which is also improved by the rudder system.
