Size, weight, capacity

The Liquidlogic Marvel is available in two sizes; Marvel 10 and Marvel 12. There is also a tandem option available, the Marvel 14.5.

The Marvel 10 is 10’ (305cm) long and a comfortable 30” (76cm) wide, making it extremely stable. It weighs just 42lbs (19kg), making it relatively lightweight to move around solo.

The Marvel 12 is 12’1” (368cm) long, but the same width as the Marvel 10 at 30” (76cm). The extra length brings extra weight and this larger model weighs 50lbs (22.5kg), harder to load onto a vehicle on your own but manageable for one person to carry over short distances.

Features

For a recreational kayak, the Marvel is a highly outfitted kayak with some progressive features. The seating is one of the major selling points for the Marvel range. Liquidlogic are notorious for their quality and comfortable outfitting and the Air-Lite system not only gives you full back support, but the mesh construction and airflow prevents overheating on long days.

The larger cockpit is a confidence inspiring feature of the boat, removing that feeling of being enclosed. Add to this the enormous width of the boat and you have a really stable platform which is perfect for beginners.

The v-shaped hull means this boat tracks effectively through the water and can cover long distances, but the flatter central section gives it enough maneuverability to navigate slow moving rivers.

A large rear hatch gives you loads of room to store kit for long days out or lightweight overnight adventures, while top deck bungee and deck lines are in place to secure some objects on the top deck. Another small hatch in front of the seat is perfect for keys or phones while you’re paddling.

Grab handles at the front and rear of the boat allow you to move it around easily.

Performance

As far as recreational kayaks go, Marvel performs excellently. It’s a relatively speedy boat which accelerates well and tracks effectively even in some rougher conditions. The hull shape balances this tracking with an ability to negotiate the twists and turns of gentle rivers and ocean bays.

This is an extremely stable and confidence inspiring kayak, the large cockpit is especially appealing to beginner or larger paddlers who struggle with the feeling of enclosure which can come from smaller cockpits.

The Air-Lite seating system is enormously supportive and extremely comfortable even for really long days on the water. As an added bonus it’s removable, so when you reach the beach and pull out your lunch, you can still enjoy the comfort of your kayak on the shoreline!
