The Green Boat is a kayak which can’t be limited to just one category of white water boat. With enough length and hull speed to compete with the fastest boats on the market, but the maneuverability necessary to navigate even the tightest steep creeks and the capacity of an expedition boat, this kayak can do it all.
Description
Size, weight, capacity
The Dagger Green Boat is one of the longest white water kayaks on the market at an enormous 11’9” (358cm), however, at just 24.5” (62cm) wide, it doesn’t feel cumbersome to paddle.
That is until you get it off the water and have to carry all 55lbs (25kg) around. The Green Boat does balance well once it’s on your shoulder, but you’ll most likely need a hand loading it on the roof of your car.
Paddler range for this boat is 140 – 260lbs (64-118kg), a broad range which also accounts for any equipment you may want to carry.
Features
The Green Boat is designed to run any class of white water and to give the paddler maximum control. Notably, to achieve this, Dagger have outfitted it with their Contour Ergo Outfitting, the creek specification of their Contour range. This includes a moulded, padded seat with an adjustable leg lifter to maximise your contact with the boat, an adjustable backband system to offer support and connection and fully adjustable thigh braces.
Foam shims can be inserted into the hip pads to optimise the fit and a foam ‘bulkhead’ style footrest system is easily adjusted to put you in the perfect paddling position and allow you to drive the boat around the river.
A safety step out wall in place of a foam pillar is installed to help you leave the boat in difficult situations, while secure grab handles on the top deck are fitted for rescues.
The top deck design sheds water as you resurface from creek-style drops to allow you to get straight back into the action.
A narrow hull and clearly defined rocker profile allow The Green Boat to carry plenty of speed on the river and punch through holes, while the length means it tracks pretty well even on open water.
A rear drain bung is fitted to remove any water you may take on.
Performance
This thing is fast. Really fast. The Green Boat is a creeker with enough volume and forgiving enough edges to link difficult moves on the most demanding water. It’s a lot of boat to move around on small, technical creeks but once you get used to how it handles you’ll be snapping in and out of eddies with ease.
As well as its prowess on steep, technical rivers, The Green Boat is a great choice for high water runs on your local grade five! The length and rocker profile mean you’ll punch through big holes without any issue.
Fast and long with loads of capacity, this kayak is a brilliant multi-day white water kayak, and has been used by plenty of kayakers on some of the hardest multi-day trips in the world; the Grand Canyon for example.
