Description

Big Fish 103 features the same trimaran-style hull that gives the series its hallmark stability. Thanks to its shorter 10′ 6″ length, it is also more manoeuvrable, which makes it great for fishing in tighter spots. The boat is 35″ wide, 3 inches narrower than the Big Fish 108.

At 110 lb (50 kg), the Big Fish 103 is pretty hefty but still lighter than the Big Fish 108’s mind-blowing 135 lbs (61.2 kg).

To manage the weight, 3 Waters Big Fish 103 is equipped with heavy-duty, molded carry handles on the bow, stern, and the sides. Still, you will probably need a kayak cart or even a trailer to take it to and from the water.

The most prominent feature of the kayak is of course the Pro Fish Pedal Drive, which is a chain-operated propulsion system that provides a very smooth pedalling experience.

There are also rod tip protectors on the bow, flush-mount rod holders, gear tracks on both gunwales, and a transducer mount in the bow hatch. For storage, you get a console on the bow and a large rear tank well with some bungee.

Naturally for a pedal-driven kayak, the Big Fish 103 comes with a rudder, which is operated via an 8-Ball steering system.

The deck is reinforced for standing and supports even the big guys out there. It comes with traction pads that also dampen any noises that might spook the fish. The kayak can carry up to 397 lbs (180 kg), which is plenty of capacity even if you stay within the recommended 70 percent limit.

In terms of performance, the Big Fish 103 is not designed to win races or handle really rough waters. Instead, it makes a great platform for stand-up fishing in sheltered, calm lakes and slow-moving rivers.
