The Malibu Two is 12 ft. (3.7 m) long, giving two adults plenty of legroom and space to move around on the water. At 34 in. (86.4 cm) wide, the Malibu Two has a beam which matches the need to be a stable platform. Even when it’s carrying a whole family, the Malibu feels extremely sturdy as you paddle about your favorite lake.

Unsurprisingly for a two person kayak with these dimensions, the Malibu Two is not exactly lightweight. That said, at 57 lbs. (25.9 kg) it’s not heavier than some solo kayaks. Between two adults, this should be easy enough to carry to and from the water and load into the truck.

A capacity of 425 lbs. (192.8 kg) is likely to be ample for two people, but families may begin to push the boundaries of what the Malibu Two is designed to carry.

Features

As a recreational, family friendly kayak, the Malibu Two isn’t the most feature laden boat on the market. Instead, it focuses on comfort and user convenience.

The high backs of the seats have seams specially designed to contort to the paddler and give them a feel of wrap-around support. These backrests are easily adjusted to keep you firmly upright in the seat. The seats are easily removable, and the Malibu Two can be paddled either solo or tandem.

A central molded seat is suitable for a smaller paddler on family days out. The overlapping footwells here give the rear paddler plenty of options, while the central paddler can still sit comfortably.

There aren’t loads of storage in the Malibu Two, with space being given over to paddler comfort. However, gear straps at the bow and stern will hold bags in place on the water. The Malibu Two can come with up to three round hatches, at the bow, stern and in the center.

Toggles at the bow and stern, as well as side handles in the center, give loads of carrying options on the Malibu Two. On the underside, the skid plate will protect the keel as you launch and land your kayak.

Performance

The Malibu Two is an extremely stable, family friendly tandem kayak, whether it’s being used to cruise around on lakes or gentle rivers, or as a platform for a fun splash around. The length and keel line give it an ability to carry speed over the water, tracking well enough for a sit-on-top kayak.

The storage options in the Malibu Two may not be the most extensive on the market, but the storage straps allow paddlers to secure enough equipment for their time on the water.

Off the water, the Malibu Two is relatively lightweight for a two person kayak, and is easy to transport and store, so long as you have the space.
