Size and Weight

Eddyline Caribbean 12 is 12′ (365.8 cm) long and has a 30″ (76.2 cm) beam. At only 45 lb (20.4 kg), it is insanely light for a 12-foot sit-on-top kayak. Handling and transporting this boat will never be a problem.

The capacity is 275 lbs (124.7 kg), which is not all that impressive but sufficient for an average-sized adult without a ton of gear. For best performance, it is usually a good idea not to exceed 80 percent of the kayak’s total capacity.

Features

Eddyline Caribbean 12’s features include four carrying handles (the side handles also work as one-hand paddle holders, which is a small but very useful feature) and a large front hatch that opens access to the in-hull storage. There is another small hatch on the stern.
The kayak features Eddyline’s signature Cloud 10 seat, which is a pretty comfortable padded seat with an adjustable backrest. It is made from a breathable mesh material that dries quickly.

The footrests are adjustable and offer enough legroom, even for taller paddlers. There are two gear tracks on the gunnels for mounting any equipment you want, such as a phone, a camera, a GPS unit, or even a rod holder. For storage, you also get a decent-size rear tank well with a bungee. The deck is self-bailing, so any water that gets in will drain out through the scupper holes.

Performance

Eddyline Caribbean 12 is a great performer, hands down. Its glass-smooth surface, streamlined hull, and sharp bow help it pierce through the water with minimum effort. Unlike many sit-on-tops that are built around stability, the Caribbean 12 is the ultimate paddling machine that will make you want to paddle more and go further. Eddyline’s gullwing hull design, with its pronounced keel and soft chines, helps the Caribbean 12 track really well. The boat is also maneuverable enough to work great on small rivers and in tighter places.

Construction and Materials

All Eddyline kayaks are made from Eddyline’s proprietary Carbonlite 2000® material. It is a dual-layer sheet of ABS plastic which consists of a load-bearing “muscle” substrate and a very hard, UV- and scratch-resistant exterior layer that gives the kayak its distinctive shine.

Sheets of Carbonlite have different specs depending on the model. To make a kayak, the sheets are heated up and then formed over a mold using vacuum (this technology is known as thermoforming). The top and bottom parts are then glued together, creating a very lightweight but strong construction.

Warranty

Eddyline kayaks come with a 3-year warranty that covers defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty is limited to the original buyer of the kayak. The deck rigging is warranted for 2 years.
