The Ozark Trail 6-Person Four Season Dome Tent has a total footprint of 144 sq ft (13.37 sq m) and a sleeping area of 84 sq ft (7.8 sq m). The total footprint of the tent measures 12’ x 12’ (3.65 x 3.65 m), while the sleeping area measures 12’ x 7’ (3.65 x 2.13 m). The non-sleeping space is the vestibule areas.

Shoulder Space and Peak Height 

The peak of the Ozark Trail 6-Person Four Season Dome Tent is 6’ (1.82 m). The enlarged dome with the unique rectangle design ensures ample headroom. As such, you have a larger area with more headroom than you’d have in a true dome-shaped tent. 

If you’re of average height, you can easily stand upright in the tent to get dressed. Should you choose to hang out in the tent on your air mattress or camping chairs, you’ll be able to get up easily too and won’t feel like you are constantly bumping your head against the tent ceiling.  

Number of Rooms and Vestibules 

The Ozark Trail Four Season Dome Tent for 6 people has a single room and vestibule areas. In total, the vestibule areas have a total floor space of 60 sq ft (5.57 sq m), which is about ⅔ the size of the total sleeping area.

Since you have plenty of space to store your gear in the vestibules, you can plan to camp for a week or more—all your stuff will be with you in the tent and you don’t need to worry about running to your vehicle for everything.  

Storage Space 

The tent excels in storage space. You have large vestibule areas to store the majority of your gear. But depending on how many people need to sleep inside the tent, you may only have space for the essentials in the sleeping area. 

Plus, the tent also has a handy gear loft, side wall pocket storage, and a media pocket. If you want to charge your phone or tablet, use the e-port. You can even have light in the tent when you use the center loop.

Breathability and Ventilation

The Ozark Trail 6-Person Four Season Dome Tent also performs well when it comes to ventilation and breathability. 

The tent has a fully mesh ceiling and mesh half walls, so when the weather is warm, you can stargaze or just enjoy a cool breeze on a hot summer’s night. The 2 doorways increase ventilation when fully or partially unzipped.   

The seam-taped rainfly adds weather protection to lock in warmth when it gets cool or roll it back for more ventilation.

Durability and Weather Resistance

Unfortunately, the manufacturer doesn’t share any information about the durability or weather resistance of the tent. Even though the tent is a four season tent, the material of the tent shell looks the same as the material used for other Ozark Trail tents. Hence, the tent exterior is likely a lightweight polyester. 

The seam-taped rainfly promises to keep the inside of the tent dry when there’s rain, and reviews have found this to be true, even in heavy rain. 

The external frame of the tent uses clip technology, and these poles are generally not ideal for holding the tent up in moderate or strong winds. Reviews found the poles can break, but duct tape is a quick fix. Still, it’s best to use the Ozark Trail 6-Person Four Season Dome Tent in no to low wind conditions.

Ease of Use

The Ozark Trail tent is easy to pitch and break down. If you are new to camping or pitching the tent for the first time, you are in luck because the instructions are sewn into the carry bag. 

To pitch the Ozark Trail 6-Person Four Season Dome Tent: 

• Lay out the tent body on flat ground. 
• Use the tent stakes to secure the tent body to the ground. 
• Assemble the collapsible tent poles. 
• Place the tent poles on top of the tent body, and lay them out in a criss-cross way. 
• Attach the poles to the ring and pin at each corner. 
• Clip the tent body to the tent poles so the tent pops up.
• Add the two extra poles to the roof of the tent to give it a more vertical side wall. 
• Drape the rainfly over the tent and secure it to the ring and pin at each corner. 
• Add stability to the tent by staking out the guylines.

Packed Size and Weight

So Ozark Trail doesn’t have any information on the packed size of this tent. The tent is rather heavy at 18.3 lbs (8.3 kgs). The tent should be easy to transport considering everything you need to pitch the tent is included in the handy carry bag. 

It’s best to use this tent for established camping grounds, car camping, and if you don’t have to carry the tent and your gear too far. 

In comparison with other tents, the Ozark Trail 6-Person Clip & Camp Dome Tent weighs 14 lbs (6.35 kgs) and has a packed size of (L x W x H) 12” x 5.5” x 9” (30.48 x 13.97 x 22.86 cm). The Ayamaya Pop Up Tent for 6 people weighs 12.45 lbs (5.65 kgs) and has a packed size of (L x W x H) 34.6” x 34.6” x 1.2” (87.88 x 87.88 x 3.04 cm).
