Ozark Trail 6-Person Clip & Camp Dome Tent

The Ozark Trail 6-Person Clip & Camp Dome Tent is a three-season camping tent. It’s easy to set up and lightweight enough to carry in the included carry bag. The tent features great ventilation, a footlocker, storage pockets, a power port, and mud mat.

Comfort and Space

A woman sits inside the Ozark Trail 6-Person Clip & Camp Dome tent and looks at a man playing with a child outside.

Just like you prefer your bedroom to be comfy and spacious—your own inner sanctuary—so too should a tent be comfortable and have enough space. Let’s have a look at how the Ozark Trail 6-Person Clip & Camp Dome Tent fares.

Floor Space

The Ozark Trail 6-Person Clip & Camp Tent has a total floor space of 102 sq ft (9.47 sq m) and measures 12’ x 8.5’ (3.65 x 2.59 m)

You may wonder how this tent compares with other 6-person tents

The Ozark Trail 6-Person Dome Outdoor Camping Tent has the same total floor space, while the Pacific Pass Camping Tent 6-Person Dome has a floor space of 100 sq ft (9.29 sq m). This tent measures 10’ x 10’ (3.04 x 3.04 m).

As such, the Ozark Trail Clip & Clamp Tent is just as spacious. But now for some important questions. How many people can really sleep in the tent? Is there any space for your gear? Or does your precious gear sleep inside while you keep watch outside?

There are a few sleeping options. You can fit:

  • 1 king air mattress and a short sleeping pad: a couple and 2 toddlers or small children can sleep inside the tent, with little to no space for gear
  • 1 queen air mattress and a short sleeping pad: 2 adults, a toddler, and a small child; almost no space for your gear
  • 1 double/full air mattress and a regular or long sleeping pad: 3 adults and a toddler; only some space for essential gear
  • 2 long or regular sleeping pads: 2 adults and enough space for your gear

With the D-shaped door, you can easily move in and out of the tent, and getting the sleeping gear inside is a breeze.

Peak Height and Shoulder Space

The tent has a peak height of 6’ (1.82 m), thanks to the sloped walls and larger dome design. The tent, however, still has a low profile even though it has a lot of shoulder room.

Most people of average height can stand fully upright in the center of the dome tent and they may need to slouch over a bit when they are entering the tent or move close to one of the outside walls.

If it rains and you sit on camping chairs in the tent, you’ll be able to get up with no issues. Even getting dressed in the Ozark Trail Clip & Camp Tent is a comfortable experience.

Number of Rooms

There’s only a single room in the Ozark Trail 6-Person Clip & Camp Tent, so there’s no privacy if you share the tent with a friend or your kids. The tent is best suited for short camping trips since you can’t fit most of your gear inside with you. However, if you like a spacious tent for one or two adults on a longer camping trip, it will be ideal.

The tent doesn’t have any screen rooms or vestibules. There is a built-in awning at the doorway, giving you some sun protection, and the built-in mud floor helps keep the inside of your tent clean.

Storage Space

If you like a large tent for only yourself, you’ll have plenty of room for your gear and even a camping chair and small table. If you share the tent with one other person, there’s still enough space to keep your gear with you.

However, sharing the tent with toddlers or small kids means only the essentials fit inside the Ozark Trail Clip & Camp Tent with your sleeping gear. Luckily, there’s a built-in footlocker you can access from outside and inside the tent.

The tent also comes with a media pocket, a few other storage pockets, and a power port to charge your devices.

Breathability and Ventilation

One area where the Ozark Trail Clip & Camp Dome Tent scores highly is breathability and ventilation.

The seam-taped rainfly is removable, leaving you with a fully mesh roof for those warm or hot summer nights or when you want to admire the vast, beautiful night sky. The rainfly can also be rolled up at the back so you have a large mesh window for extra ventilation.

If you want even more of a breeze into the tent, leave the door half or fully unzipped. Or be smart and unzip only the mesh window part of the D-shaped door, ensuring no little animal can set up camp in your tent.

Weather Resistance and Durability

Ozark Trail doesn’t share any information about what the tent outer, clips, or poles are made of. Assuming the tent material is the same as the other Ozark Tents, especially the similar Ozark Trail 6-Person Camping Dome Tent, then the tent sheet is likely a lightweight, durable polyester.

The seam-taped rainfly keeps the tent waterproof, and reviews of the tent are favorable—the interior stays dry even during a light downpour.

Clips are generally made of plastic (helping to keep the tent lightweight and ventilated); however, your tent isn’t as durable during adverse weather as a pole sleeve setup. As such, it’s best to use this tent when the weather forecast is favorable and there aren’t high winds.

Ease of Use

The clip and camp tent is easy to pitch. In fact, most campers find that clip tents are faster to pitch and take down than those with sleeve poles. However, if there are gusts of wind, you may find your sleep is disturbed since the clips rattle. And the rattling gets louder the stronger the winds.

How to pitch the Ozark Trail 6-Person Clip & Camp Dome Tent:

  • Unfold the tent and lay it out flat on the ground.
  • Stake out the tent.
  • Attach the poles at each tent corner.
  • Clip the tent to the poles.
  • To add the rainfly, look for the “front” label, and pull it over the tent from the back.
  • Secure the rainfly to the tent using the velcro straps.
  • Add the brim pole and the guylines to further secure the tent.

The instructions are sewn into the bag too!

Packed Size and Weight

When disassembled, the Ozark Trail 6-Person Clip & Camp Dome Tent measures (L x W x H) 12” x 5.5” x 9” (30.48 x 13.97 x 22.86 cm) and weighs 14 lbs (6.35 kg)

Everything you need to pitch the tent is included in a carry bag, which you can sling over your shoulder and carry short distances. This is very convenient when lugging around separate tent parts and avoids losing some essential parts on your way to the camping ground.

In comparison, the Core 6-Person Dome Tent measures (L x W x H) 25” x 7” x 7” (63.5 x 17.78 x 17.78 cm) and weighs 6.4 lbs (2.9 kg).
