The floor of the Ozark Trail 4-Person Instant Cabin Tent with LED Lighted Hub measures 8’ x 7′ (244 x 213 cm), which gives you a floor area of 56 sq ft ( 5.2 sq m).

Its height is approximately 5 feet (1.5 meters) from the floor to the led light on the tent ceiling.

This tent has a spacious interior cabin design with extra headroom which comfortably fits four adults in sleeping bags or a queen-sized mattress.

Ozark Trail 4-Person Instant Cabin Tent with LED Lighted Hub is a cabin tent. A cabin tent is a tent design that resembles a cabin due to the near-vertical walls of the tent.

Cabin tents are designed to give you more room to move around inside the tent and typically have a higher center height. Another appealing feature of many cabin tents is that they are designed to be set up in minutes.

Because the tent has telescopic poles that stay attached to the tent’s walls, an instant cabin tent can be set up in about a minute or less.

When you arrive at your campsite, you can take your tent out of the bag without having to connect any poles. Simply extend the poles and secure the tent to the ground, and you’re done.

This tent has one single room and no vestibules. With the included plenty of mesh storage pockets and electrical cord access, you can stay organized and connected.

Breathability and Ventilation

For improved air circulation throughout the tent, this tent has three large mesh windows and one adjustable AC vent for you to circulate air, especially when the window blinds are down.

The ambient LED-lighted hub provides excellent lighting throughout the tent and has three brightness settings: low, medium, and high.

This is powered by four ‘D’ batteries or a USB power supply, like from a portable battery bank.

It also has a velcro entry point for running a cable. You can leave the top open at night to see the stars while the no-see-um mesh fabric keeps bugs out.

Weather Resistance

The Ozark Trail 4-Person Instant Cabin Tent with LED Lighted Hub comes with tent stakes that can be pegged to keep the tent in place during harsh weather and strong winds.

Guylines and ropes can also be used to help keep it in place if you’re camping in a windy area, although we wouldn’t tempt fate with strong winds!

This tent has an anti-snag door zipper and a water-resistant coating of 1200mm. It might do well with the occasional light shower, but we wouldn’t trust it in a heavy rainstorm.

Durability

This tent has a bathtub floor which is common in cabin tents. The bathtub floor is a distinct component in these tents, with a line of bug netting connecting it to the exterior tent wall.

The bathtub floor is common in most double-wall camping tents, so named because they have an inner tent with bug netting and an outer rainfly

The waterproof fabric on the floor of these tents extends a few inches up the side tent walls. This helps keep rainwater from leaking through the walls of your tent and swamping your gear.

The Ozark Trail 4-Person Instant Cabin Tent with LED Lighted Hub also has a 1,200 mm PU water-resistant coating.

This means that a 1200mm high column of water can be held up against the fabric for one minute before a drop seeps through.

The majority of tents are made of polyester fabric, which is not waterproof. To provide ‘waterproofness,’ PU (Polyurethane) coating(s) are applied.

PU coatings are hydrophilic, which means they will slowly absorb water if in contact with it for an extended period of time.

Because water takes a long time to penetrate PU, it serves as a waterproof coating.

The rain fly portion of the tent has good separation from the main tent material, is water-resistant, and designed to keep rain, snow, and bugs out.

This tent comes with pre-attached poles made of steel. Steel poles form a rigid skeleton that can withstand strong winds.

This strength comes at a cost, as larger tents can be difficult to lift into position and move between your storage, your car, and the campsite. Steel poles are plated to resist corrosion, but they do require maintenance.

Ease of Use

The Ozark Trail 4-Person Instant Cabin Tent with LED Lighted Hub is very simple to assemble. With pre-attached poles, it comes together in under 60 seconds!

The directions say that setup should be done by two people, but one person can do it; you might just have to work a tad harder.

Because the poles are already attached to the tent, all you have to do is unpack, unfold, and extend this spacious cabin-style tent.

  • Remove the main body from the bag.
  • Stretch out the center hub and separate the poles.
  • Pull out and stretch the telescopic poles one by one.
  • Stake the corners of the tent so it stays nice and tight.
  • Finally, toss the rainfly on top of the tent along with the awning lip and secure its corners to the tent’s corresponding corner.

Packed Size and Weight

The Ozark Trail 4-Person Instant Cabin Tent with LED Lighted Hub weighs in at 19lbs (8.6 kg) fully packed.

Instant tents are typically larger and heavier than comparable traditional tents. This is because of their attached frame designs, which typically include hinges or hubs, which add weight and bulk to the overall size of the tent.

That means instant tents aren’t a good option for backpacking, so your weight and packed size are limited by your ability to transport, carry, and store your instant tent.
