OneTigris Northgaze Hot Tent

The OneTigris Northgaze Hot Tent is a 2 to 4-person camping tipi tent, perfect for 4-season camping. It is windproof, fire retardant, and also has a stove jack for camping in the colder months.

Comfort and Space

With a floor length of 12.5 ft / 381 cm, there is enough room to fit two to four sleeping bags at a time although four would be quite a squeeze.

The peak height of this OneTigris Northgaze Hot tent is 6.7 ft / 205 cm, so most campers will be able to stand upright towards the center of the tent.

Like all tipi tents, there are no sidewalls, but instead, just a sloped roof with a door that unzips to become a porch roof or awning. This tent is a pyramid-shaped chimney tent or hot tent with no separate rooms but the tent has an excellent vestibule design with the front door opened and set up to make a porch.

Tipi tents are remarkably easy to set up. There is only one center pole and a bunch of guy lines and pegs. They also tend to be less expensive than bell or cabin tents and are more lightweight but stable when set up properly.

As with all tipi tents, the dramatically-sloped walls mean there is significantly less head and shoulder space. However, tipi tents are perfect for the winter season, as the smaller living space means the hot tent will keep you very warm.

There is no flooring which can cause the living space to become wet after rainfall and may also be an entrance for insects.

If too many people try to fit in this tent, there remains no room for storage. However, if you set the porch up, there are multiple hanging points along the front rainfly for your cooking utensils or kitchenware for you to hang pots, spatulas, or whatever you want.

Having an outdoor kitchen on the porch means you won’t have to worry about these items taking up too much space within the tent.

The tent includes a heat-resistant stove jack for you to use a wood stove during winter and still stay nice and cozy. The OneTigris Northgaze Hot Tent comes in two colors; Coyote Brown and OD Green.

Breathability and Ventilation

There are no windows to this hot tent as its purpose is to keep you warm. There is no mesh layer on the door as the entrance can be unzipped and used as a porch roof to cover your camping furniture.

This allows the luxury of enjoying a covered area to dine in whilst protecting you from direct sunlight as you enjoy the scenery in good weather. However, the lack of a mesh layer means that you can’t keep the bugs out of the tent.

On the roof of this hot tent, there are double vents that allow some ventilation to keep the air flowing and the inside of the tent dry and fresh.

The stove jack opening means you can use a wood stove during winter, and the small living space that is characteristic of all tipi tents will be easy to keep warm.

When not in use, the stove jack can be used for extra ventilation during summer camping.

Weather Resistance

The “Tetoron” cotton fabric which is 65% polyester and 35% cotton that is used to make this tent is known for its thicker, heavier, and more durable rugged quality, making it a unique but promising choice when opting to buy a hot tent.

Tetoron cotton is often used for a wide range of materials such as car seats and general industrial construction.

This unique material technology makes the tent more water resistant to every contact it has with water or moisture.

The canvas is also fire retardant so it is safe to set up near a campfire or use a wood stove. There are reinforced stress points for an extra solid build for greater wind resistance.

Durability

The zips are SBS zippers, which are high in quality and won’t break even in high winds. The tent body is made of tetoron cotton which is more durable than the usual canvas or cotton commonly used in some other tents.

This high-quality (65% polyester 35% cotton) material technology will improve the tent’s longevity, as it won’t easily damage. The roof is sloped, which will prevent rainwater from accumulating on it. This too will increase the lifetime of the tent.

The fire retardant material used to make the tent allows safety near campfires and blocks out sunlight and heat as well.

The pole used in the center of the tent is an aluminum pole. Aluminum poles are lighter in weight and more durable than fiberglass, which is a common material used for tent poles.

However, aluminum is less durable than galvanized steel, which is the material that some heavier tents used for the center and entrance poles.

The tent has a snow skirt, which is to prevent snow from entering the tent and helps keep the tent inside temperature warm. However, the entrance doesn’t have a snow skirt.

Ease of Use

The setup procedure of the OneTigris Northgaze Hot Tent is extremely simple. There is one 6.7 ft / 205 cm center pole, 18 tent pegs, and 8 adjustable guy lines. One person can set up this tipi pyramid-shaped hot tent in about 15 to 20 minutes.

The support side straps within the tent make the setup process much easier. Even taking it down and packing it up is just as easy as setting it up.

Packed Size and Weight

Packaged Size of this hot tent L x W x H is 22.8″ x 7.8″ x 7.8″ / 58 cm x 20 cm x 20 cm and the packed weight of the tent is 15.8 lbs / 7.2 kg.

It is very lightweight compared to other tents made with canvas or cotton and is easy to carry and transport from one place to another. You do not require a large vehicle to transport this tent nor do you need extra people to help you carry it and set it up.
