Comfort and Space

With a floor space of 120 in x 120 in (305 cm x 305 cm) and a total floor area of 100 ft² / 9.3 m², there’s plenty of room for everyone in this large, cabin-style tent.

What is even better is the generous interior peak height of 84 in / 213.4 cm allowing all but the tallest campers to comfortably stand in and move around. The near-vertical walls of the cabin tent offer even more living space in comparison to the sloped walls of traditional dome tents.

Breathability and Ventilation

Like many cabin tents, the vast floor-to-ceiling no-see-um mesh windows keep the bugs out but the air flowing freely. In addition, the hooded rainfly promotes more airflow, even on the hottest days.

The waterproof side curtains pull up to protect the interior from rain, but otherwise, you can leave them down for maximum ventilation.

There will be plenty of breeze going right through this tent, which is great for when you are dealing with the hot and humid summer weather.

You don’t just have to sleep in the tent, you can also use the tent as a hangout area or kitchen if you’re dealing with loads of mozzies or rainy weather.

Weather Resistance

The tough, 75-denier polyester taffeta rainfly is coated with 2,000 mm waterproofing, and the floor fabric with 3,000, and even in moderate rain, there are no leaks within the tent.

The shape of a cabin tent is anything but aerodynamic, but in moderate winds, the sturdy steel and aluminum poles held up well. We wouldn’t want to put it to the test in a serious storm though!

Durability

75-denier polyester taffeta is used for the rainfly and floor, and 68-denier for the tent fabric. Denier is a unit of measurement that is used to describe the thickness of fibers, such as those used in fabric or yarn.

The higher the denier number, the thicker the fiber. Fabrics with a higher denier count are typically more durable and less likely to rip or tear. However, they are also usually heavier and more difficult to clean.

The main poles are 19mm steel and the fly and brim poles are 16 mm aluminum. Both materials are considerably more durable than the cheaper fiberglass used in lower-budget tents.

While steel is the strongest and most durable, it is also the heaviest!

Ease of Use

This is a large, heavy tent that would be set up more easily with two people, especially if someone is a little shorter. The tall interior peak would make chucking the rainfly over a little trickier for a short person!

However, in a pinch, you could still set the Eureka Jade Canyon X6 person tent alone, unlike other 6-person tents that require two people.

Here’s how you set up the Eureka Jade Canyon X6:

First things first, inspect the package to make sure you have everything. You should have the steel leg poles, some aluminum secondary poles, stakes, the tent body itself, and the rainfly.

Unroll and spread out the tent body. Find the four eave hubs that are labeled “roof”, “leg”, and “eave” so you know where the poles go.

Assemble the roof poles and slide them through the pole sleeve on the roof.

You can insert the ends of the roof poles into the “roof” socket of the eave hub.

Assemble your four leg poles and insert the open end into the “leg” socket of the eave hub. On the opposite end, the pin goes into the corner grommet.

Go around the tent and insert all the rest of the leg poles.

Now the tent is freestanding, you can attach all of the tent clips.

Now’s the time for the rainfly. Make sure you match the color of the webbing on the rainfly to the webbing on the tent body.

Drape the rainfly over the tent.

Assemble the fly brim poles and insert them into the sleeve at the front door.

Insert the tips into the grommets on each side of the door.

Buckle the fly down to the matching webbing at the bottom corners.

Stake down and guyout your tent, and you’re done!

Reviewers have said it took them 15 to 20 minutes even for a single adult, but two is always better!

Packed Size and Weight

This is a large, heavy tent! Weighing in at 22 lbs / 10 kg with a packed size of 10 in x 29 in (25 cm x 74 cm), you might want to drive the Eureka Jade Canyon X6 person tent to the campground and not hike 3 miles in.

The thick steel poles might be the culprit, as Eureka’s Space Camp 6-person with aluminum poles weighs significantly less at 16 lbs 1 oz / 7.3 kg. This tent is marketed by Eureka as an ideal car-camping tent and it’s easy to see why!
