2 Person Tents

Coleman 2-Person Popup Tent

Coleman 2-Person Popup Tent

Floor Area: 33.3 sq. ft (3.1 sq. m)
Peak Height: 2’11” (89 cm)
Packed Weight: 5 lbs (2.3 kg)

A budget-friendly option for short campground overnights or music festivals, the Coleman 2-Person Popup Tent is your go-to shelter when convenience is key.

This summertime shelter offers 33.3 sq. ft (3.1 sq. m) of floor space and an extended 7’6” (229 cm) length. Although the tent is fairly limited on interior space, particularly with respect to its 2’11” (89 cm) peak height, its longer length is ideal for taller campers.

With the Coleman 2-Person Popup Tent, campers get a simple, yet functional one-room shelter. The tent also has a multi-position rainfly system that lets you roll back the rainfly to expose mesh paneling overhead on hot summer nights.

Furthermore, this tent has flexible, pre-assembled poles that allow for a 10-second setup process when you arrive at camp. The tent isn’t ideal in a deluge due to its lack of silicone waterproofing, but for windy, dry locales it brings its A game.

The Coleman 2-Person Popup Tent also weighs just around 5 lbs (2.3 kg), so it’s easy enough to pack for roadside adventures.

Coleman Kids Wonder Lake 2-Person Tent

Coleman Kids Wonder Lake 2-Person Tent

Floor Area: 27.9 sq. ft (2.6 sq. m)
Peak Height: 3’ (91 cm)
Packed Weight: 6 lbs (2.7 kg)

One of the few purpose-built kid’s tents on the market, the Coleman Kids Wonder Lake 2-Person Tent is a solid choice for your young explorers.

In many ways, the Kids Wonder Lake offers the same great features that campers expect from Coleman tents, but in a kid’s-sized package. This shelter features 27.9 sq. ft (2.6 sq. m) of living space and a 7’ (213 cm) by 4’ (122 cm) interior layout. As a result, it’s more than large enough to house growing children and all of their gear.

At the same time, the Kids Wonder Lake also comes with a 3’ (91 cm) center height, which is taller than what you might find in some 2-person tents for adults. Of course, this shelter is fairly simple and it doesn’t have a vestibule or a screen porch, but it does have an overhead mesh canopy for breathability.

As far as ease of use goes, this tent is designed to be set up in about 5 to 10 minutes, thanks to its snag-free continuous poles. The whole tent weighs about 6 lbs (2.7 kg), too. So, while it’s not ideal for backpacking, it’s a nice option for kids who want a bit more independence at the campground.

Coleman Hooligan 2-Person Tent

Coleman Hooligan 2-Person Tent

Floor Area: 48.1 sq. ft (4.5 sq. m)
Peak Height: 4’7” (140 cm)
Packed Weight: 8 lbs (3.6 kg)

Designed for short backpacking trips or weekends at your local campground, the Coleman Hooligan 2-Person Tent is a spacious abode for 3 season adventures.

Out of all of Coleman’s 2-person tents, the Hooligan offers some of the best bang for your buck when livability is concerned. Its 48.1 sq. ft (4.5 sqm) of floor space rivals that of some 4-person shelters and its 4’7” (140 cm) peak height is impressive for a tent of this size.

Nevertheless, the Hooligan doesn’t have a screen porch, but it does have a covered vestibule for added gear storage space. The tent is also double-walled so it offers ample breathability, even on muggy or rainy nights.

If that wasn’t enough, the Hooligan also uses Coleman’s WeatherTec system to help keep you dry at night. Its full-coverage rainfly and dome-style construction are also preferable for people who want to use this tent for more remote backcountry adventures.

We should note that the Hooligan is fairly hefty for a 2-person tent as it weighs in at around 8 lbs (3.6 kg). However, if you’re okay with a bit of extra weight in exchange for ample living space, it’s well worth considering this tent.

Coleman Sundome 2-Person Camping Tent

Coleman Sundome 2-Person Camping Tent

Floor Area: 35 sq. ft (3.3 sq. m)
Peak Height: 4’ (122 cm)
Packed Weight: 7.2 lbs (3.3 kg)

One of the most popular 2-person shelters in the company’s line-up, the Coleman Sundome 2-Person Camping Tent is a solid option for weekend car camping adventures on a budget.

This dome-style shelter features a relatively spacious 35 sq. ft (3.3 sq. m) that’s large enough to fit a queen-sized air mattress. Even though the interior is a little tight for two adults and all of their gear, the Sundome makes up for its limited equipment storage by offering a high 4’ (122 cm) center height.

One of the best features of this tent, however, is its large mesh canopy. This canopy offers superb ventilation in hot and humid locales while the tent’s zippered mesh windows encourage more airflow for extra comfort.

Additionally, this tent comes with Coleman’s WeatherTec system, including its bathtub-style floors. The Sundome also has the company’s conventional pitch system, so it’s easy enough to pitch in about 5 to 10 minutes.

Finally, the Sundome weighs in at around 7.2 lbs (3.3 kg), which is a respectable weight for a car camping tent of this size.

Coleman Skydome 2-Person Camping Tent

Coleman Skydome 2-Person Camping Tent

Floor Area: 35 sq. ft (3.3 sq. m)
Peak Height: 4’ (122 cm)
Packed Weight: 8.7 lbs (3.9 kg)

Offering a user-friendly design and a cozy interior, the Coleman Skydome 2-Person Camping Tent is a suitable shelter for 3-season roadside getaways.

This tent offers a comfortable 35 sq. ft (3.3 sq. m) of floor space, which can fit a queen-sized air mattress or two adults on their sleeping pads. While the Skydome isn’t quite large enough to accommodate two adults and all their gear it does have a solid 4’ (122 cm) peak height, which allows you to sit upright at night.

Additionally, the Skydome comes in two versions—one with a full-coverage rainfly and one without. As such, the full-coverage rainfly also provides extra gear storage space in its vestibule while the partial-coverage fly is particularly breathable.

The Coleman Skydome also comes with an extra-rugged 1000D polyethylene floor and quality 75D polyester taffeta in its rainfly. This shelter even has Coleman’s quick-pitch system, so it has pre-attached poles that allow for a sub-5 minute pitching process.

One thing to note is that the Skydome is fairly heavy for a 2-person tent with an 8.7 lbs (3.9 kg) packed weight. But it’s still packable enough for car-based trips.

3 Person Tents

Coleman Sundome 3-Person Camping Tent

Coleman Sundome 3-Person Camping Tent
  • Floor Area: 49 sq. ft (4.6 sqm)
  • Peak Height: 4’4” (132 cm)
  • Packed Weight: 8.7 lbs (3.9 kg)

One of the few 3-person tents in Coleman’s line-up, the Coleman Sundome 3-Person Camping Tent is a popular choice for people that want extra interior living space at the campground.

Thanks to its 49 sq. ft (4.6 sq. m) internal floor plan, the Sundome can accommodate up to 3 adults at night. However, it works even better as a 2 person tent for campers who also want to stash their gear inside their shelter at night.

As an added bonus, the Sundome comes with a 4’4” (132 cm) center height and a full mesh canopy overhead for breathability. Nevertheless, this tent doesn’t have a vestibule or a screen porch—though it has a small awning over the door. So, this is something to consider if gear storage is a concern.

Like with most other Coleman tents, the Sundome uses WeatherTec technology. This technology provides the shelter with bathtub-style floors and inverted seams to help keep water at bay.

Note that the 3-Person Sundome is fairly heavy at 8.7 lbs (3.9 kg) and it can take up to 15 minutes to pitch. However, if car camping is more your style, this tent is a comfortable choice for 3-season adventures.

4 Person Tents

Coleman 4-Person Popup Tent

Coleman 4-Person Popup Tent

Floor Area: 60 sq. ft (5.6 sq. m)
Peak Height: 3’4” (102 cm)
Packed Weight: 7.1 lbs (3.2 kg)

Crafted with the summertime camper or the avid music festival attendee in mind, the Coleman 4-Person Popup Tent is an affordable abode for warm-weather outings.

With the Coleman 4-Person Popup Tent, you get a cozy 60 sq. ft (5.6 sq. m) of living space, which can fit up to 3 adults relatively comfortably. It has a tunnel-style design that’s designed to accommodate taller campers as well as a 3’4” (102 cm) peak height for improved relaxation at night.

Although interior space is somewhat limited in this tent, Coleman crafted it with a multi-position rainfly. As a result, campers can quickly ventilate the shelter by rolling back the rainfly to expose the large mesh panels underneath for breathability.

Like its 2-person counterpart, this tent also features pre-attached flexible poles, which provide extra durability in the wind. It also has an instant setup design, allowing you to get camp pitched in just under 10 seconds.

A notable drawback to this tent is that it’s fairly heavy at 7.1 lbs (3.2 kg). While this is fairly average for a 4-person car camping tent, it’s a bit too heavy and bulky for backpacking. However, as far as festivals and campground stays go, this shelter is a nice choice.

Coleman Hooligan 4-Person Backpacking Tent

Coleman Hooligan 4-Person Backpacking Tent

Floor Area: 63 sq. ft (5.9 sq. m)
Peak Height: 4’11” (150 cm)
Packed Weight: 12.6 lbs (5.7 kg)

Although Coleman mostly makes car camping shelters, the Hooligan 4-Person Backpacking Tent is one of the company’s most popular options for more remote treks.

The Hooligan offers 63 sq. ft (5.9 sqm) of living space, which is nearly unheard of for a 4 person backpacking tent. This is more than enough space to fit four adults on their sleeping pads, as well as some of their gear.

What’s more, the Hooligan also has a 4’11” (150 cm) center height. This is taller than what you’d find on most 4-person car camping tents, so this shelter is a nice choice for people who value comfort while outside.

As an added bonus, this tent comes with a massive front vestibule that provides an additional 4’ (122 cm) of space. This vestibule is perfect for gear storage so you can protect your equipment from the rain at all costs.

Despite its many advantages, it’s hard to overlook the Hooligan’s 12.6 lbs (5.7 kg) weight. This weight is a bit heavy for many backpackers, though if comfort is a concern, the extra weight just might be worth it.

Coleman Skydome 4-Person Tent

Coleman Skydome 4-Person Tent

Floor Area: 56 sq. ft (5.2 sq. m)
Peak Height: 4’8” (140 cm)
Packed Weight: 11.6 lbs (5.3 kg)

Decidedly versatile, the Coleman Skydome 4-Person Tent is a small-group shelter for car camping excursions.

One of the most popular Coleman tents available, the 4-Person Skydome provides enough space to fit a single queen-sized air mattress or 4 sleeping pads in its 56 sq. ft (5.2 sq. m) central room. It also boasts a unique pre-bent pole design which, when combined with the tent’s near-vertical walls, allows for ample headroom at night.

The 4-Person Skydome comes in a number of different styles, including a partial-fly option for summertime camping and a full-fly model for extra gear storage and wet weather. There’s also a model that comes with a screen room for enhanced outdoor living and the campground.

This tent also features a double-wall design, which provides it with ample breathability, even if it doesn’t have any ground vents. Plus, the Skydome features WeatherTec technology for water resistance in a range of different weather conditions.

Wrapping up a solid set of features is the tent’s quick pitch system and color-coded fly, which allow you to get your shelter set up in a matter of minutes.

Coleman Skydome 4-Person Dark Room Tent

Coleman Skydome 4-Person Dark Room Tent

Floor Area: 56 sq. ft (5.2 sq. m)
Peak Height: 4’7” (142 cm)
Packed Weight: 11.6 lbs (5.3 kg)

The Coleman Skydome 4-Person Dark Room Tent offers a superb mix of convenience and comfort for 3-season camping experiences.

This shelter has a 56 sq. ft (5.2 sq. m) floor space and near-vertical walls that provide a decent amount of room for up to four adult campers, though it’s best for no more than three adults. At the same time, its 4’7” (140 cm) center height is among the tallest in its size range, allowing for ample headroom at night.

Nevertheless, the key feature of this version of the Skydome is its Dark Room technology. Thanks to Coleman’s Dark Room technology, this tent stays cool during the day—even in sunny environments. That’s because the fabric in this shelter can block up to 90% of the sun’s rays, allowing you to sleep in late on summer mornings.

As is the case with most Coleman tents, this model comes with WeatherTec to prevent you from getting wet at night. However, its lack of a full-coverage rainfly means that the Skydome is best for sunny, rather than rainy environments.

Despite this drawback, the 4-Person Skydome does come with a quick pitch system and pre-attached poles that cut your set-up time down to about 5 minutes.

Coleman Skylodge 4-Person Instant Camping Tent

Coleman Skylodge 4-Person Instant Camping Tent

Floor Area: 56 sq. ft (5.2 sq. m)
Peak Height: 5’3” (160 cm)
Packed Weight: 21.4 lbs (9.7 kg)

Decidedly comfortable, the Coleman Skylodge 4-Person Instant Camping Tent is designed to provide you with convenience and functionality, all in one shelter.

This tent has a 56 sq. ft (5.2 sq. m) living space, which is large enough to fit four adults or a single queen-sized air mattress, though it’s best for no more than three campers. Although it lacks a sizable amount of interior gear storage space, the Skylodge makes up for this deficiency with its best-in-its-class 5’3” (160 cm) center height.

Furthermore, this cabin-style tent has a large overhead mesh canopy and panoramic mesh windows. These two features give it superior breathability, particularly in hot and dry conditions.

While the 4-Person Skylodge’s lack of a full-coverage rainfly limits its usefulness in wet locales, its instant set-up design is ideal for family car camping trips. Setting up this tent takes only a couple of minutes because it has pre-attached poles that simply need to be extended to complete the pitching process.

One important thing to remember about this tent is that it is fairly heavy. At 21.4 lbs (9.7 kg), it’s far from ultralight, though it’s still reasonable enough to pack for your next campground getaway.

Coleman Sundome 4-Person Tent

Coleman Sundome 4-Person Tent

Floor Area: 63 sq. ft (5.9 sq. m)
Peak Height: 4’11” (150 cm)
Packed Weight: 9.7 lbs (4.4. kg)

Another uber-popular option in Coleman’s suite of shelters, the Coleman Sundome 4-Person Tent is a budget-friendly abode for any casual 3-season outing.

Due to its 63 sq. ft (5.9 sq. m) floor plan, the Sundome is technically large enough to accommodate four adults, though it’s more comfortable for no more than three campers. However, it has a 4’11” (150 cm) peak height, which is particularly tall for a dome-style tent.

Even though the 4-Person Sundome doesn’t have a vestibule or screen porch, it has a sleek double-wall design with large mesh panels. As such, it offers plenty of ventilation during the summer months, particularly when combined with its nifty ground vent.

The 4-Person Sundome’s bathtub-style floor and fully seam-taped rainfly give it enhanced weather resistance. Meanwhile, its dome-shaped construction provides it with some natural wind resistance.

As an added bonus, this tent is only 9.7 lbs (4.4. kg), which is relatively lightweight—even when compared to some backpacking tents. Even so, its affordable price point and convenient pitching system mean that the Sundome is a classic option for any campsite.

Coleman Sundome 4-Person Dark Room Tent

Coleman Sundome 4-Person Dark Room Tent

Floor Area: 63 sq. ft (5.9 sq. m)
Peak Height: 4’11” (150 cm)
Packed Weight: 10.4 lb (4.7 kg)

A go-to choice for hot camping locales and festivals, the Coleman Sundome 4-Person Dark Room Tent is engineered to help you sleep well, even in sunny environments.

This tent has a 63 sq. ft (5.9 sq. m) floor space that can accommodate one queen-size air mattress or three to four adults on sleeping pads. It also has a tall 4’11” (150 cm) center height for comfort, as well as extra-large windows for breathability.

Furthermore, the 4-Person Sundome comes with Coleman’s WeatherTec waterproofing system and the company’s standard extra-durable 100D polyethylene floor.

What sets this tent apart from the competition is its Dark Room technology. Thanks to this system, the 4-Person Sundome is able to block out up to 90% of the sun’s rays, helping you to stay cooler and more comfortable, even when sleeping in on a sunny morning.

Another bonus of this tent is that it’s a modest weight for a car camping shelter. Although it doesn’t have a vestibule or a screen room, the Coleman Sundome 4-Person Dark Room Tent’s 10.4 lb (4.7 kg) weight is packable enough for fun-focused expeditions.

Coleman 4-Person Cabin Camping Tent with Instant Setup

Coleman 4-Person Cabin Camping Tent with Instant Setup

Floor Area: 56 sq. ft (5.2 sqm)
Peak Height: 4’11” (150 cm)
Packed Weight: 18.2 lbs (8.3 kg)

Built specifically for campers that prioritize simplicity and functionality above all else, the Coleman 4-Person Cabin Camping Tent with Instant Setup is your home in the wilderness for summertime trips.

Despite its relatively small 56 sq. ft (5.2 sqm) interior layout, this cabin tent can comfortably house two adults on a queen-sized air mattress or in sleeping bags. The tent also has a lofty 4’11” (150 cm) peak height to ensure that you have plenty of headroom while you snooze.

The Coleman 4-Person Cabin Camping Tent also comes with a convenient D-style entrance door that’s designed for easy entry and exit at night. While some campers might lament this shelter’s lack of a screen porch, we should note that it has three large mesh windows and a highly breathable Polyguard fabric canopy.

Naturally, this instant cabin tent comes with a super slick pitching system. It can be set up in 2 minutes or less, thanks to its pre-attached poles that just need to be extended and locked into place.

As is the case with most instant tents, this model lacks the portability that you might find in a backpacking shelter. At 18.2 lbs (8.3 kg), it’s too heavy to carry into the mountains, but it’s certainly suitable for a trip to the campground.

Coleman 4-Person Cabin Tent with Screened Porch

Coleman 4-Person Cabin Tent with Screened Porch

Floor Area: 64 sq. ft (6 sq. m)
Peak Height: 4’11” (150 cm)
Packed Weight: 23 lbs (10.4 kg)

Simple, but comfortable, the Coleman 4-Person Cabin Tent with Screened Porch is a slick option for fair-weather family camping trips.

With this tent, you get a total of 64 sq. ft (6 sq. m) of living space that’s split between an internal sleeping area and a nice screen porch. It’s one of the few 4-person models available that has a screen porch, so it’s a popular choice if you want the extra gear storage space.

As far as 4-person tents go, this model also has a respectable 4’11” (150 cm) peak height. While this isn’t high enough to stand in, it’s quite tall for an otherwise cozy tent, providing you with more headroom at night.

Besides the included screen porch, an area where this tent shines is its breathability. It has a mesh canopy overhead as well as windows on nearly every wall to help ensure that you can maintain a consistent flow of air through your tent while you sleep.

As is the case with all tents, there are some aspects of the Coleman 4-Person Cabin Tent with Screened Porch that don’t quite impress. In particular, its partial-coverage rainfly isn’t ideal in wet weather and it’s heavy for a 4-person tent. But it’s a budget-friendly choice that puts comfort at the forefront of its design.

Coleman Carlsbad 4-Person Dome Tent with Screen Room

Coleman Carlsbad 4-Person Dome Tent with Screen Room

Floor Area: 99 sq. ft (9.2 sq. m)
Peak Height: 4’11” (150 cm)
Packed Weight: 7.9 lbs (3.6 kg)

Packing a slew of features into one nifty shelter, the Coleman Carlsbad 4-Person Dome Tent with Screen Room is a do-anything abode for campground trips.

This 3-season shelter boasts some of the best floor space in its class with a total of 99 sq. ft (9.2 sq. m) of sleeping space, plus a 4’11” (150 cm) center height. Although some of the tent’s floor space is set aside for the screen room, it’s still roomy enough to accommodate four campers and their gear.

In particular, campers should take note of the Carlsbad’s screen room. It’s rare to find a budget-friendly 4-person tent with a screen room, so this model is worth considering for anyone that wants some outdoor living space during their adventures.

Moreover, the Carlsbad is a top contender when breathability is a priority. In addition to its full mesh canopy, this tent comes with two side mesh windows. If that wasn’t enough, it also comes with Dark Room technology, which cuts up to 90% of sunlight to keep you cool in sunny climates.

At the end of the day, the Carlsbad is a solid tent. Though we can’t overlook its limited functionality in rainy conditions or the fact that it’s not made to hold up in high winds. But for trips when nice weather is in the forecast, it’s a solid option.

Coleman OneSource Rechargeable 4-Person Camping Dome Tent with Airflow System & LED Lighting

Coleman OneSource Rechargeable 4-Person Camping Dome Tent with Airflow System & LED Lighting

Floor Area: 62 sq. ft (5.9 sq. m)
Peak Height: 4’11” (150 cm)
Packed Weight: 14.3 lbs (6.5 kg)

Arguably the most innovative of Coleman’s tents, the Coleman OneSource Rechargeable 4-Person Camping Dome Tent with Airflow System & LED Lighting is a luxurious getaway for any woodland retreat.

Starting first with its internal dimensions, the OneSource features 62 sq. ft (5.9 sq. m) of living space, which is on par with other tents of its size. It also has a 4’11” (150 cm) peak height, which is also high enough for people to comfortably sit upright at night.

Where the OneSource really steals the spotlight is with its built-in LED lighting system. This system allows you to illuminate your tent with the push of a button and it’s powerful enough to charge your devices via USB.

Oh, and this OneSource technology also powers an airflow system thanks to its built-in overhead fan. On hot evenings, you can turn on the airflow system to start the fan and provide much-needed ventilation while you snooze.

As is expected from a tent with this many features, the OneSource is fairly heavy and bulky. However, at 14.3 lbs (6.5 kg), most people will find that it’s still packable enough to take along on a car-based excursion.

6 Person Tents

Coleman Skydome 6-Person Tent

Coleman Skydome 6-Person Tent

Floor Area: 85 sq. ft (7.9 sq. m)
Peak Height: 6’ (183 cm)
Packed Weight: 15.4 lbs (7 kg)

Planning a family camping getaway? The cozy, straightforward, and compact Coleman Skydome 6-Person Tent just might be the shelter you’ve been searching for.

Even though it has a budget-friendly price point, the 6-Person Skydome features an 85 sq. ft (7.9 sq. m) floor plan, which is an ideal size for families with 3 to 4 children. Alternatively, the tent can fit up to two queen-sized air mattresses, all while providing ample headroom with its 6’ (183 cm) center height.

Do note that there are three different models of the 6-Person Skydome. This includes the standard model with a partial-coverage rainfly, a full-coverage rainfly option, and a tent that comes complete with a screen porch.

Regardless of which model you choose, the 6-Person Skydome comes with a plethora of mesh windows for breathability and WeatherTec technology for water resistance. The tent also has Coleman’s quick pitch system with color-coding to reduce the amount of time you need to spend on setting up your tent.

We ought to mention that all three models of the Skydome are fairly heavy, though the partial-fly model weighs only 15.4 lbs (7 kg). Either way, the tent is a convenient choice for those family campground expeditions.

Coleman Skylodge 6-Person Instant Camping Tent

Coleman Skylodge 6-Person Instant Camping Tent

Floor Area: 90 sq. ft (8.4 sq. m)
Peak Height: 6’1” (185 cm)
Packed Weight: 28.7 lb (13 kg)

One of the most popular options in the company’s new Skylodge line of shelters, the Coleman Skylodge 6-Person Instant Camping Tent is a convenience-focused retreat at any campground.

The main feature of this tent is its instant pitch system, which features pre-attached telescopic poles. To set up the tent, you simply need to unfold it, stake it to the ground, extend the poles, and then attach the rainfly—a process that usually takes less than 5 minutes.

This shelter also provides a modest 90 sq. ft (8.4 sq. m) of interior living space and a 6’1” (185 cm) center height. While the floor plan is a little small for a 6-person tent, its high, mostly flat ceiling and near-vertical walls provide plenty of headroom and make the shelter feel much more spacious.

Some things to note with the 6-Person Skylodge include the fact that it doesn’t have a vestibule or a screen porch. But to make up for these shortcomings, Coleman gave the Skylodge a set of large mesh windows and built-in vents for improved breathability. The rainfly also has fully-taped seams and the tent comes with WeatherTec technology.

The 6-Person Skylodge is designed solely for car camping, a reality reflected in its 28.7 lb (13 kg) weight. But if you want airflow and plenty of headroom in the backcountry, this is one tent that should be on your radar.

Coleman Sundome 6-Person Tent

Coleman Sundome 6-Person Tent

Floor Area: 100 sq. ft (9.3 sq. m)
Peak Height: 6’ (183 cm)
Packed Weight: 16.6 lbs (7.5 kg)

A classic choice for any outdoor enthusiast, the Coleman Sundome 6-Person Tent is an all-time bestseller that provides simplicity and convenience.

The 6-Person Sundome has a square floor plan that provides you with 100 sq. ft (9.3 sq. m) of sleeping space. This is suitable for either 6 campers or a family with 3 to 4 children, but it’s somewhat limited when it comes to gear storage space. Despite that, this tent has a 6’ (183 cm) peak height, which is among the tallest available for dome-style shelters.

Since the 6-Person Sundome was specifically crafted for sunny locales, it comes with a double wall construction and a full mesh inner tent for improved breathability. There’s also an E-port for easy access to an extension cord to charge your electronics or to power a fan at night.

As is the case with most other Coleman tents, the 6-Person Sundome includes WeatherTec technology. Although it’s not an ideal option for extreme environments, this tent can hold its own in moderate rainstorms at the campground.

All in all, the 6-Person Sundome offers a nice mix of affordability and ease of use. Even though it’s one of the heavier 6-person shelters at 16.6 lbs (7.5 kg), if bang-for-your-buck is a concern, the Sundome is worth a second look.

Coleman Sundome 6-Person Dark Room Tent

Coleman Sundome 6-Person Dark Room Tent

Floor Area: 100 sq. ft (9.3 sq. m)
Peak Height: 6’ (193 cm)
Packed Weight: 18.2 lbs (8.3 kg)

The Dark Room version of Coleman’s exceptionally popular 6-Person Sundome, this tent features a superb price point and ample breathability, making it ideal for summertime jaunts in the woods.

This tent features effectively the same construction as the regular 6-Person Sundome, so it boasts the same 100 sq. ft (9.3 sq. m) floor plan. It also has a 6’ (193 cm) peak height, which means it offers enough headspace for the majority of campers.

As is the case with the regular 6-Person Sundome, this model features large mesh windows and a mesh canopy for breathability. The tent also has an E-Port so it’s easier for you to hook up a fan or a tent AC unit for use on particularly hot nights.

The primary advantage of this model is its Dark Room technology. When combined with all the other great features of the Sundome, this technology blocks up to 90% of the sun’s rays, keeping you cool and comfortable, even during midday naps.

Impressively, the Coleman Sundome 6-Person Dark Room Tent is only 18.2 lbs (8.3 kg). While it’s not an ultralight shelter, for a 6-person tent, it’s simple enough to carry to and from your roadside campsite.

Coleman 6-Person Instant Cabin Tent

Coleman 6-Person Instant Cabin Tent

Floor Area: 90 sq. ft (8.4 sq. m)
Peak Height: 6’ (182 cm)
Packed Weight: 24.9 lbs (11.3 kg)

If pitching tents isn’t quite your jam, the Coleman 6-Person Instant Cabin is worth checking out.

This pop-up-style tent comes with a set of pre-attached telescopic poles to make the pitching process as simple as possible. You simply need to unfold the tent, extend the poles, stake the shelter to the ground, and you have your home in the woods for your next camping trip.

Furthermore, the 6-Person Instant Cabin has a respectable 90 sq. ft (8.4 sq. m) of interior floor space, which can comfortably house six campers or four campers and all of their equipment. The tent’s 6’ (182 cm) peak height is no slouch, either, so it’s tall enough for most people to comfortably stand in.

Even though this shelter lacks a removable room divider, vestibule, or screen porch, it does have a large, hinged D-shaped door for easy entry and exit. The tent’s three massive windows also allow for airflow on muggy evenings while its Polyguard canopy prevents rain and improves breathability.

The 6-Person Instant Cabin is also one of the few Coleman tents that feature aluminum poles, which provide improved durability. While this also comes at the expense of the tent’s weight and packability, it’s still portable enough for campground use.

Coleman 6-Person Cabin Tent with Screened Porch

Coleman 6-Person Cabin Tent with Screened Porch

Floor Area: 130 sq. ft (12 sq. m)
Peak Height: 6’4” (193 cm)
Packed Weight: 32.5 lbs (14.7 kg)

A spacious abode for family outings, the Coleman 6-Person Cabin Tent with Screened Porch lets you maximize your personal space while at the campground.

While many so-called 6-person tents are only just big enough to house 4 or 5 people, this cabin tent from Coleman offers 130 sq. ft (12 sq. m) of living space. This includes a massive screened porch and a spacious interior, both of which provide ample room for everyone in your hiking group.

At the same time, the 6-Person Cabin Tent comes with 6’4” (193 cm) of headspace throughout thanks to its mostly flat roof and near-vertical walls. The tent also includes a set of panoramic windows on nearly all sides so you can get nice views and airflow while relaxing in the shelter.

Like most cabin-style tents, this shelter isn’t your go-to for use in heavy rain due to its lack of a full-coverage rainfly. Despite this, it’s a comfortable option for use in mild climate regions.

Rounding things off, Coleman engineered this shelter with the company’s classic pitch system, which is straightforward and easy to manage. Note, however, that this shelter weighs about 32.5 lbs (14.7 kg), so it’s best for situations where you won’t need to carry your tent over long distances.

Coleman Montana 6-Person Cabin Camping Tent

Coleman Montana 6-Person Cabin Camping Tent

Floor Area: 84 sq. ft (7.8 sq. m)
Peak Height: 5’8” (173 cm)
Packed Weight: 17.1 lbs (7.7 kg)

Offering a splendid mix of comfort and functionality, the Coleman Montana 6-Person Cabin Camping Tent is a best-selling shelter for family outings.

Boasting 84 sq. ft (7.8 sq. m) of total living space, the Montana is a relatively spacious cabin tent that can fit either 6 adults on sleeping pads or 2 queen-sized air mattresses. Although its 5’8” (173 cm) center height is a bit low for a 6-person shelter, the tent has near-vertical walls that maximize your headspace at night.

Meanwhile, this tent also features Polyguard fabric and large mesh panels for ventilation. Polyguard is designed to be naturally breathable while the mesh windows and canopy on this tent maximize airflow when you need it most.

Another advantage of the Montana is its relatively light weight. While 17.1 lbs (7.7 kg) isn’t exactly ultralight, it’s certainly on the lighter end of the spectrum for a spacious 6-person tent.

However, while the Montana shines in areas where some other tents falter, it does have a non-freestanding design that takes a while to pitch. But if you’re willing to prioritize comfort, portability, and breathability over pitching convenience, it’s still a nice choice.

Coleman Steel Creek Fast Pitch 6-Person Tent

Floor Area: 140 sq. ft (13 sq. m)
Peak Height: 5’8” (173 cm)
Packed Weight: 19 lbs (8.6 kg)

When convenience and affordability are critical, the Coleman Steel Creek Fast Pitch 6-Person Tent is one shelter that’s hard to overlook.

Unlike many other budget-friendly tents, the Coleman Steel Creek performs well when comfort is a concern. With 140 square feet (13 sqm) of living space split between a large inner room and a sizable screen porch, the Steel Creek offers a nice blend of versatility and coziness at night.

While the tent’s 5’8” (173 cm) center height might be a bit low for a 6-person shelter, the Steel Creek makes up for it by prioritizing breathability. Indeed, this tent has a mesh canopy overhead as well as an assortment of mesh windows.

No review of the Steel Creek would be complete without mentioning the tent’s fast pitch system. This shelter is designed to be pitched in about 7 minutes, thanks to its hub-style poles and freestanding design.

Even though the tent’s hefty 19 lbs (8.6 kg) weight makes it impractical for backpacking, it is one of the more packable options in Coleman’s line-up for car camping.

Coleman Elite Sundome 6-Person Lighted Tent

Coleman Elite Sundome 6-Person Lighted Tent

Floor Area: 120 sq. ft (1.1 sq. m)
Peak Height: 6’ (183 cm)
Packed Weight: 24.3 lbs (11 kg)

When convenience is of the utmost importance, the comfort-centric Coleman Elite Sundome 6-Person Lighted Tent should be high on your list.

This 6-person tent features 120 sq. ft (1.1 sqm) of living space, which is substantially more than the regular version of the Sundome. All of this extra space is ideal for six adult campers, plus their equipment. Additionally, this tent has a 6’ (183 cm) center height for added comfort at night.

Easily the most unique feature in this tent, however, is its built-in LED lighting system. This system comes with three settings for convenient illumination at any time of day.

Meanwhile, even though it doesn’t have a vestibule or a screen porch, the Elite Sundome has two large hinged doors for easier entry and exit. It also comes with a removable room divider so everyone can have the privacy that they need on the trail.

The Elite Sundome also features a mesh canopy overhead and a set of auto-roll windows for improved breathability. Topping it all off is a quick-pitch system for easy set-up at the campground. However, note that this tent is fairly heavy at 24.3 lbs (11 kg), so it’s best used at car camping destinations.

8 Person Tents

Coleman Skydome 8-Person Tent

Coleman Skydome 8-Person Tent

Floor Area: 108 sq. ft (10 sq. m)
Peak Height: 6’4” (193 cm)
Packed Weight: 22.4 lbs (10.2 kg)

A livability-focused option for small family trips, the Coleman Skydome 8-Person Tent is a convenient shelter for 3-season outings to your local campground.

The Coleman Skydome 8-Person Tent features a 108 sq. ft (10 sq. m) interior floor plan, which can comfortably house up to two queen-sized air mattresses. However, while this tent is advertised for eight campers, it’s slightly more comfortable for no more than six adults.

A key benefit of the 8-Person Skydome is its 6’4” (193 cm) center height, which is tall enough for most campers. The tent also comes with an overhead gear loft to help you maximize your interior living space.

Also note that there are currently two versions of the 8-Person Skydome: one with a screen porch and one without. The screen porch option provides you with a sizable outdoor living space for relaxation that can be converted into an additional sleeping area on fair-weather evenings.

Finally, this tent comes with WeatherTec for improved weather resistance, even if it isn’t ideal for use in a gale. Plus, for an 8-person tent, it’s a relatively light 22.4 lbs (10.2 kg), so it’s easy enough to toss in the back of your car before an adventure.

Coleman Skydome 8-Person XL Tent

Coleman Skydome 8-Person XL Tent

Floor Area: 112 sq. ft (10.5 sq. m)
Peak Height: 6’ (183 cm)
Packed Weight: 24.8 lbs (11.2 kg)

The Coleman Skydome 8-Person XL Tent is the slightly larger version of the company’s popular 8-Person Skydome, making it a fun choice for family trips where livability is a top priority.

In this tent, you get a 112 sq. ft (10.5 sq. m) floor space and a 6’ (183 cm) center height. This is suitable for housing up to eight campers or three queen-sized air mattresses. Additionally, even though this tent doesn’t have a vestibule or screen room, it is large enough to store a decent amount of camping gear.

A key benefit of this tent is its breathable design. The 8-Person Skydome XL boasts a full mesh canopy as well as ground vents. These features are both particularly helpful for ventilation in hot and humid environments.

Another stand-out feature of the 8-Person XL Skydome is its fast pitch system. The tent is also made with rugged 1000D polyethylene and 75D polyester taffeta fabrics for extra durability.

Like many 8-person shelters, the Skydome XL is not designed for backpacking. But at 24.8 lbs (11.2 kg), it’s actually somewhat light for its size, particularly if you don’t foresee the need to carry your tent over long distances.

10 Person Tents

Coleman Skydome 10-Person XL Tent

Coleman Skydome 10-Person XL Tent

Floor Area: 144 sq. ft (13 sq. m)
Peak Height: 6’6” (198 cm)
Packed Weight: 24.8 lbs (11.2 kg)

Engineered for comfort, the Coleman Skydome 10-Person XL Tent is a family and large group camping shelter for roadside locales.

In addition to its affordable price point, the Skydome 10-Person XL Tent features 144 sq. ft (13 sq. m) of floor space and a 6’6” (198 cm) ceiling. Combined, these two features provide plenty of space for up to 10 campers on their sleeping bags or 3 queen-sized air mattresses.

Another key benefit of this tent is its relatively modest packed size. Of course, at 24.8 lbs (11.2 kg), this is no lightweight shelter, but for a 10-person tent, it’s actually very packable.

We also appreciate that this tent comes with Coleman’s fast pitch system, which incorporates a set of pre-attached poles to simplify the set-up process. While the 10-Person Skydome XL isn’t quite designed to withstand a heavy storm, it is a suitable choice for family campground escapades.

12 Person Tents

Coleman Skydome 12-Person XL Tent

Coleman Skydome 12-Person XL Tent

Floor Area: 180 sq. ft (16.7 sq.m)
Peak Height: 7’ (213 cm)
Packed Weight: 40.1 lbs (18.2 kg)

The largest tent in Coleman’s collection, the Coleman Skydome 12-Person XL Tent is a home away from home for family camping trips.

Featuring 180 sq. ft (16.7 sqm) of interior space, the Skydome can fit either 4 queen-sized air mattresses or 12 sleeping pads. The tent also comes with a removable room divider. It also has a tall 7’ (213 cm) center height and near-vertical walls to comfortably accommodate the tallest of campers.

When it comes to gear storage, the Skydome offers a slew of internal mesh pockets, though it doesn’t have a screen room or a vestibule. Despite this, it is one of the more breathable tents on the market, thanks to its full mesh ceiling and large windows.

To speed up the tent pitching process, the 12-Person Skydome also comes with pre-attached poles and a color-coded rainfly system. Plus, the tent is made with durable fabrics as well as the company’s WeatherTec system.

But keep in mind that the 12-Person Skydome is not made for use in severe weather. It’s also heavy and bulky, though it’s still portable enough for transport to and from the campground.
