The Manta Ray 12 is 12’2” (371cm) long and 33” (84cm) wide, very stable and comfortable while being long enough to accelerate quickly and carry that speed.

It will come as no surprise that this boat is pretty weighty, 70lbs (32kg) to be exact. Once it’s on the water it doesn’t feel heavy, however, and it’s only really moving it around on land that you’ll feel the weight.

This kayak also has an enormous capacity, with maximum paddler weight being 325lbs (147kg). This weight allowance makes it a perfect fishing platform or for carrying lots of equipment.

Features

Let’s start with the obvious. The Manta Ray Propel 12 is fitted with a pedal powered propeller which powers you around on the water. This propeller has reverse capabilities so you can even slow down and back out of tight spots.

To ensure that everyone can reach these pedals, the frame style seat, which is extremely comfortable and highly supportive, is fitted onto runners and secured with wing nuts, easy to adjust on the water if you want to change between relaxed and active positions.

To steer the Manta Ray, a rudder is fitted at the rear and controlled with a simple lever next to the seat.

Hatches at the front and rear are fitted for dry storage, while bungee over an enormous deck cavity will secure larger boxes or bags.

Under the hull is a transducer mountain cavity and plate and on the top deck there are four padded grab handles which make carrying this heavy beast slightly more bearable.

The hull itself is designed to cut through the water efficiently. A sharp bow and stern and clear v-shape keel running the length of the boat mean that it not only accelerates and tracks effectively, but maintains your speed as you glide through the water. Those who have experience with pedal powered propellers will know that this design makes all the difference to your thighs over long distances!
