Size and Weight
The SUPYN is 12 feet / 366 cm long, 3 feet / 91 cm wide, and 6 inches / 15 cm thick, which is about average compared to other popular hybrids like the Sea Eagle FS126 at 12 feet 6 inches / 381 cm and the Isle Switch at 11 feet 6 inches / 350 cm.
The BKC SUPYN weighs 55 lbs / 25kg, significantly heavier than the Isle Switch’s 19 lbs / 8.6 kg and slightly more than the Sea Eagle FS126’s 45 lbs / 20 kg.
Still, the SUPYN is light enough for one person to manage, and its heavier weight is a small price to pay for its durability.
The BKC SUPYN is rated for a maximum payload of 330 lbs / 150 kg, which is more than enough for one adult plus some gear. It might not suit the biggest paddlers that like to lug around heaps of gear, but for the average paddler angler, it is more than sufficient.
The capacity of the SUPYN is significantly lower than the Sea Eagle FS126’s 500 lbs / 227 lbs and the Isle Switch’s 425 lbs / 193 lbs.
The hull is a single-piece, roto-molded High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) built for maximum durability. However, it is still recommended that you use UV protectant and marine silicone sealant at the start and end of each season to prolong the board’s lifespan.
At the bow of the board is a comfortable, rubber-lined carry handle. Just behind it is a small cargo area with a bungee cord tie-down system for you to place dry bags or other belongings that you don’t mind getting wet.
Moving further along, there are three of five accessory rails on the main deck just in front of the seat. In the middle of the deck are two articulating rod holders that you can use to keep multiple lines in the water or just keep the rods out of your way when you are standing and paddling.
Just in front of the seat on both sides are two side carrying handles so you can easily lift the kayak from side to side instead of the usual front to back. Each carrying handle also has a built-in bungee-corded paddle park system for you to stash your paddle when not in use.
The EVA non-slip deck from the front of the seat to behind the rod holders is a breeze to stand on and there’s plenty of room to move around.
The comfortable, aluminum-framed seat is secured to the D-rings that are screwed into the board. Just behind the seat on both sides are two more accessory rails, bringing the total number of rails on the SUPYN to five.
Behind that is another bungee tie-down system for the stern storage area as well as the back rubber-lined carry handle.
The BKC SUPYN comes with an adjustable two-piece, aluminum paddle.
The BKC SUPYN is remarkably stable and you can stand comfortably in it to paddle or fish. They are easy to load on your car, a trolley or cart, or launch.
While it isn’t the lightest paddle board SUP hybrid on the market, it is certainly easy enough to handle by one person.
It has decent tracking but at 12 feet / 366 cm long, maneuverability isn’t the best, and handling tight turns is something that it might lack.
Tough, stable, and cutting the water well, the BKC SUPYN will make an excellent addition to the fleet of an avid SUP-er that might want to take out a rod every once in a while.
However, for the more serious angler, these hybrids will lack many features that a fishing kayak will have like storage space, features, and sea-worthiness.
