CAMPROS CP Tent-8-Person

The CAMPROS CP Tent-8-Person is an eight-person, three-season, car camping tent. Affordability, ease of setup, and interior space are all the rage in this summer camping sensation.

Geared towards the entry-level tent market, the CAMPROS CP brings a lot of functionality to the table with a reasonable amount of summer weather protection and space.

The tent is a good fit for a family new to camping or a family that wants to have a separate sleeping area for the children and adults. Small groups of friends will enjoy hanging out in the center of the tent and then retiring to separate ends of the tent at night.

Comfort and Space

Floor Space

The CAMPROS CP overall footprint is 14′ x 9′ (427 x 274 cm). A modest rain awning extends over the entrance of the tent.

An attachable room partition is a room divider and a display screen for a portable projector. An E-port will allow you to run a power cable from your remote power source into the tent.

Head Room

The CAMPROS CP has an Interior Peak Height (IPH) of 6′ (183 cm) at its tallest point, the center of the tent. It’s not the tallest tent we’ve seen, but it’s tall enough for most of us! If your heart is stuck on a taller tent with roughly the same price point, we’d recommend the NTK Arizona GT.

Doors and Vestibules

There is one doorway leading into and out of the CAMPROS CP. The single doorway resolves the ongoing debate over who sleeps next to the entrance. The single door at the center of the tent side panel allows all campers easy exit access without tiptoeing through their fellow sleeping campers and invariably stepping on someone!

Doorway size

The doorway is “D” shaped and is approximately 3′ x 4′ (91 x 122 cm). The entrance has an approximate 6″ (15 cm) ground level “step up and over” to enter the tent. The step up may be considered a trip hazard for tipsy campers and small children.

Vestibule

The CAMPROS CP doesn’t have a dedicated vestibule. The rain awning extends approximately 12″ (30 cm) above the entrance. Given the slope of the tent, the awning is deep enough to protect the tent’s interior from rain but not deep enough to provide any gear protection.

The closest protected space for gear storage is your automobile.

Storage

A hanging mesh storage bin with two zippered compartments hangs at each end of the tent approximately 3′ (91 cm) above ground level.

Given the tent’s stated occupancy size of eight to nine campers, two storage bins seem a bit underwhelming.

Plan to hang a lantern or other small electronic device from the center ceiling loop.

Breathability and Ventilation

The CAMPROS CP Tent shines when it comes to ventilation. Five windows, one door, and a No-See-Um mesh ceiling equate to excellent airflow and even better stargazing!

Windows

Each window is protected by a rainfly bump out located above the window. The bump outs create a rain shield that allows you to have the windows opened with rain squalls without worries about your gear getting wet.

There are two front panels and one rear panel window. Each window is protected by rain fly bump-outs approximately 2″ (5 cm) deep.

The rain fly above the front panel windows provides some degree of protection from frost but very little protection from the rain. We recommend leaving these windows zipped closed during periods of rain.

A window at each end of the tent is approximately 1′ 6″ (46 cm) tall and is half-moon shaped. Both windows provide approximately 3′ 6″ (106 cm) of zippable, No-See-um mesh ventilation potential. Each end window has a rain fly bump out approximately 12″ (30 cm) deep.

The rain fly above the end windows provides enough protection that the windows may remain open during periods of rain.

Exterior Doorway

The single doorway may be fully zippered closed with its interior window cover zippered closed, or the entrance may be fully zippered closed and the doorway window zippered open. The doorway window is approximately 3′ x 2′ (91 x 61 cm).

Weather Resistance

The CAMPROS CP Tent is a lightweight summer-season tent. It has enough rain resistance to protect you from short summer storms, but it isn’t necessarily the tent you want to take camping when the weather is foul.

Wind resistance

Designed as an entry-level tunnel tent, the CAMPROS CP tent isn’t the tent you want to take out into a wind storm.

Stake it, guy line it, set the tension carefully, and consider natural wind protection when setting up the tent.

Rain resistance

Crafted from 185-denier polyester treated with polyurethane, the tent body, and the rain fly provides 1000mm of Hydrostatic Head moisture resistance. It’s adequate moisture protection from light summer rain but not enough protection for a prolonged rain storm.

Durability

CAMPROS offers an unconditional one-year quality assurance warranty. Dedication to their product shows up in the small percentage of online user complaints.

Tent Floor

The tent floor is a polyurethane sheet. We recommend picking up a tarp as an extra water barrier.

Poles

The CAMPROS CP utilizes 8.5 mm fiberglass poles. Fiberglass poles are often found in entry-level tents because they’re cheaper to manufacture than aluminum poles.

Ease of Use

Campers field test reports indicate that the CAMPROS CP is quite easy and quick to set up. Set-up times range from 15-30 minutes for the initial setup.

How to Set up the CAMPROS CP

  • Spread the ground cover, consider tent orientation to the wind
  • Place and spread the tent over the ground cover
  • Extend the color-coded poles
  • Run the tent poles through the appropriately color-coded sleeves
  • The top support pole is black
  • Connect the tent poles to the grommets at the base of the tent
  • Connect the tent body to the tent poles with the preattached connectors
  • Attach the rainfly
  • Stake the tent
  • Run guy lines (don’t skip!) and set the proper tension

Packed Size and Weight

The CAMPROS CP 8 person Tent weighs 17 lbs 6 oz ( 7.9 kg) and has a packed size of approximately 25″ x 8″ x 8″ (63 x 20 x 20 cm)
